Shoppers Drug Mart - Project Manager - Pharmacy Systems 1997 - 2006
Program Manager of all corporate office pharmaceutical information systems.
Scope of responsibilities included all aspects of departmental staffing,
budgeting, project management, systems design, development, implementation,
training, documentation, and daily support activities thereby providing
full accountability for all systems in production.
1. Assessed departmental work processes, policies and procedures and
implemented required changes to ensure proper processes were followed
and that timely communications with both internal and external
stakeholders was achieved. This provided the proper tools to the staff
to effectively manage user expectations and deliver results as agreed
to.
2. Directed the strategic and tactical development of the central pharmacy
product repository system which was utilized to support central product
purchasing, store replenishment and the in-store prescription dispensing
systems. This system resulted in a reduction of in-store inventory
costs through economies of scale purchasing and in-store inventory
replenishment lead-times.
3. Directed the strategic and tactical development of the central
Healthwatch data maintenance system which was utilized to support
Shoppers new in-store prescription dispensing system. This initiative
was undertaken while adopting a new agile/scrum development methodology
- which provided the team with advanced communication and stakeholder
interaction. Project benefits realized included - reduced in-store user
support and training costs along with a single, consistent source of
data for reporting purposes.
4. Directed the strategic and tactical development of the central pharmacy
data warehouse/business intelligence system. This information was
utilized to support Shoppers pricing and marketing strategies on $3.5B
of pharmacy sales transactions. Worked with external agencies, both
government and third party, to define data requirements to support
indirect marketing initiatives.
5. Managed the out-sourcing transition of the central pharmacy application
development group from 19 internal permanent plus contract resources to
2 separate external groups. These efforts resulted in no significant
impact to ALL in-progress project timetables.
