Screen for Prevalence of Positive screen of PPD in select Spanish
population at Well Child visit, in New York City by using EPDS.
DESCRIPTION: Studies have shown that about 10% to 20% of all new mothers
develop postpartum depression (PPD) and that many depressed mothers remain
untreated.
Unfortunately, a woman's primary care physician may not have many chances
to diagnose PPD. These women typically don't see their obstetricians until
their six-week check and then not again for another year.
These mothers, however, make sure that their infants routinely see their
pediatricians for well baby checks. So we may very well be the only
physicians who has the opportunity to screen moms for PPD.
Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS) is a well-validated, 10 item
self-report scale to screen for PPD. It has been developed to assist
primary care health professionals to detect mothers suffering from PPD.

Cholestasis of Pregnancy and Neonatal Outcome: A Retrospective Chart Review
DESCRIPTION: Maternal cholestasis has been associated with adverse neonatal
outcomes but there is insufficient data to support the cause effect
relationship. None of the studies so far has correlated bile acid levels
with the neonatal outcome.
Our is the first study which is correlating maternal and cord bile acid
levels with the neonatal outcome in terms of: resuscitation required, APGAR
score, gestational age, admission to NICU/ intermediate/ transitional/ WBN,
any comorbities (RDS, jaundice, others), length of stay in the nursery.

low income groups and newcomers to Canada.
We conducted the first epidemiological studies on the prevalence rates of
viral Hepatitis in select immigrant populations in Toronto. I created the
