viaducts, between 100 to 400 m length, one of them crossing a

major freeway and others in an urban environment, with one being a

double viaduct (roadway on one and railway on the other); the

maintenance and repair workshop and central administration and

control buildings, a great variety of retaining walls, some box

culverts, assessment of existing structures to the new imposed

loads, etc.

. Viaducts for the design-build-operate proposal for the light rail

system of the South bank of river Tagus in Lisbon, conceptualised

as a continuous box girders of cast-in-situ prestressed concrete

(one of 60 m main span and about 360 m long and other of main span

of 35 m and 150 m long), over busy roads and a major freeway, to

concrete bridge of 9 spans of about 45 to 50 m each, damaged due

to scour under the marine foundations and due to heavy rusting of

the steel components (a retrofit alternate was considered, by

means of transforming the bridge into a cable-stayed structure,

thus eliminating the piers subjected to the scour action, in the

centre of the channel);- Florida, USA.

. On and off ramps for a very large intersection for access to Fort

Lauderdale International Airport, to be constructed by balanced

cantilevering, as precast segmental structures over very busy

Viaduct on SR112 - a busy access road to Miami International

Airport (Airport Expressway) - Miami, Florida - USA.

bridge consists of two parts: one as a double span concrete CIP

that serves as approach to a movable bridge; the second the

movable bridge itself. The movable bridge (Drawbridge) is of the

bascule type, with two leaves with each leaf measuring about 82'

(ca 25 m), thus with a total span of 164' (ca 50 m). The total

width of the drawbridge is about 77' (ca 20 m), comprising 2 lanes

withstand major earthquakes without the entire collapse of the

structure; - S. Francisco, California, USA.

. Structural Retrofit and Widening of the Lion's Gate Bridge - a

suspension bridge in steel, of a trussed stiffness girder, with an

orthotropic steel deck and with a concrete overlay for the riding

surface - the retrofit was based in a conception of transforming

the bridge from a suspension to a cable-stayed structure and

creating a second riding surface in an underdeck; all the work was

done in a segmental manner with minimal interruption of the

traffic, which occurred only during the night;- Vancouver, British

Columbia, Canada.

. Part of the design team for the design-build proposal for the new

East Span of the Bay Bridge, between Oakland and Yerba Buena

island (investigated some cable-stayed solutions and the self-

anchored suspension bridge computer model); - Walnut Creek,

California, USA.

5. 1995 - 1996 - "JMI - Jean Muller International - Bridge Engineering

Consultants".

. Technical Consultancy to the Concessionaire of the New Tagus River

Crossing for the Design Projects of the Bridge Structures

Integrating the Crossing (incorporating a cable-stayed bridge of

420.0 m main span, a 8.0 km viaduct made up of precast segments

assembled by means of a launching girder and a 7.0 km long viaduct

made up of precast elements 85.0 m long erected as a whole by a

special crane barge, previously assembled from precast segments

about 7.0 m long); Lisbon, PORTUGAL.

Legs Prestressed Concrete Columns; - Bangkok -- THAILAND.

. Elevated Light Rail System in the City of Bangkok - Elevated

Stations (Central Station), including Segmental Precast

Prestressed Concrete Girders Supporting the Tracks: both viaducts

for the supports of the tracks in box girder, precast segmental,

prestressed concrete of some 45 m (150 ft) span and stations made

of cast-in-situ columns and frames in reinforced and prestressed

concrete and floor of precast pretensioned concrete beams with

cast-in-situ top slab, all assembled over heavy traffic; - Bangkok
