RELEVANT ACADEMIC PROJECTS
Capstone Design, Spring Semester 2013
• Aerodynamic wing design as part of team project for AIAA Design/Build/Fly
• Researched various wing designs and based on the resulting information, several materials and structural designs
were chosen to prototype on a small scale. Prototypes were chosen utilizing a design of experiment (DoE). One key
response variable was total weight, with a 1 lb. limit
• Utilized CFD software to research various airfoils with an emphasis on camber to allow for more lift.
• Developed and built a low cost sting balance and scale model airfoil to test the aerodynamic properties of the wing
Wind assessment/feasibility study of the power environment around the UTEC building In Lowell MA, April 2012
• Analyzed building dimensions and measured wind speed to recommend location for wind turbine
Mechanical Lab Instrumentations: Spring Semester 2012
• Conducted multiple tests using an accelerometer to determine the acceleration of a piezoelectric element
placed on a spring using data acquisition.
• Determined the displacement of the element with the help of an LVDT and digital data acquisition
Design Build and Test of a Fourbar Linkage, Fall Semester 2012
• Worked with a team of four students to apply knowledge of dynamics, linkages, and SolidWorks to design,
build, and test a fourbar linkage. Design successfully met all specifications.
ENGINEERING EXPERIENCE
Volunteer Researcher, City of Lowell, Lowell, MA, April 2011
• Identified potential wind development areas in the city of Lowell
• Submitted findings and recommendations for review
