Pressure to create more efficient and profitable business models with the ability to react to a changing trading and

regulatory environment will become increasingly important in the hedge fund space. My experience in portfolio, risk and

operational management positions me well to transition organizations to bring necessary efficiencies and develop models

for the future. My experience in change management demonstrates the ability to influence change across the entire

organization and problem-solve creatively and quickly under pressure.

Experience:

Critical Resource Management

• Successfully guided two firms through periods of extreme stresses caused by internal and external factors.

• Established internal protocols to protect assets during volatile market conditions (September 2001, Financial Crisis 2008)

resulting in funds remaining liquid and operational.

• Grew back- and middle-office operations from 4 to 28 employees within two years by reorganizing responsibilities. These units

handled up to 1,000 daily trades and associated positions efficiently, and became the training ground for front office new hires

• Manage emergency situations arising from requests for first aid including rapid assessments of additional, more complex

resources, and make timely decisions affecting life changing outcomes.

Back Office / Corporate Infrastructure

• Held chief operating position at two firms experiencing growth in AUM of $2.5 bln to 10.5 bln while expanding into multiple

strategies and structured products in one opportunity with the other managing AUM $325 mln in single strategy with growth

expectations of tripling over two years.

• Assessed and developed all post trade processes and procedures for purposes of risk management, operations, and reporting;

prepared the firm for future growth.

• Enhanced monitoring capabilities, allowing for the expansion of the portfolio into more logistically complex

products.

• Initiated and wrote an analysis and template to improve infrastructure and overall institutional quality, resulting in internal

efficiencies in meeting operational and risk standards.

• Developed procedures for reviewing execution and operational processes as well as the infrastructure of the funds and firms,

enhancing the pre-investment review of hedge fund managers for potential investment.

• Responsible for oversight of all post-executed trade functions, including confirmation, settlement, and

reconciliation with counterparties, prime brokers, custodians and administrators.

• Negotiated and executed trade related (ISDA, MRA) and prime brokerage agreements with new counterparties

Model Development and System Integration

• Developed Excel-based models focused on all trade, portfolio and risk activities, providing enhanced management and reporting

capabilities to portfolio managers and senior management by improving output from monthly to daily

• Developed a performance-based incentive program by developing a model incorporating P&L, trading, personnel and expenses.

• Led projects to expand the capabilities of proprietary trading, risk, and operational systems to handle new

products and strategies over multiple currencies through utilizing portfolio management experience to guide

developers.

• Developed proprietary Excel-based models to manage execution for large portfolio of treasury option and

swaptions allowing the transaction of multiple positions in a single trade.

Risk Management / Valuation

• Supported portfolio management of distressed corporate fixed income securities through identification of exposures and

opportunities based on previous experiences in alternative strategies.

• Developed an outline of risk and operational best practices (establishing criteria and reporting mechanism for measuring) when

reviewing potential fund managers.

• Managed all middle office functions for a multistrategy hedge fund manager for the purposes of pricing, risk, and reporting of

positions. Established valuation policies for complex securities including MBS, ABS, convertibles, and structured products

(CDO).

• Liaised with auditors to clarify the structure and valuation methodology for over 300 complex security positions, ensuring their

soundness and passing any/all regulatory investigation. Securities included CMO, ABS, CDO (ABS and synthetic backed),

CDS, and IRS.

Portfolio Management

• Executed and managed fixed income derivative positions for the purpose of investing and hedging mortgage

backed securities and portfolios. Securities traded included fixed income options, swaps, swaptions, mortgage pass-

throughs and CMO’s.

• Managed exposure to foreign exchange risk across all possible levels of the portfolio and firm.

• As an analyst supported mortgage-backed strategy with particular focus on agency-backed RMBS.
