Performed code maintenance using C, ProC and SQL on a Solaris UNIX system.
The programs involve Medicaid for the state of OHIO. I fixed errors
reported by users and write code for minor enhancements. I dealt with the
analysts and other developers on a daily basis as I worked from home. I
dealt with health care claims from various providers in Ohio.

Worked on the Medicaid system for the state of Tennessee. The system is
written in C and ProC and uses Oracle which runs on a SUN UNIX system. I
worked on claims processing and financial reporting. At least 60% of my
time was spent training developers who were proficient COBOL programmers
and needed help learning C. I interacted frequently with the users and
analysts. I responded instantly to any problems reported by the users.
First Health- Scottsdale, Arizona 12/99-4/01
Software Engineer
Developed a HCFA & UB claims processing system written in C on a DEC UNIX
system using ORACLE as the RDB. Structured files were processed to and from
Oracle. The programs extract claims from Oracle and insert electronic
claims into Oracle. The system handles 250,000 claims per day.
Wrote utility functions to validate date, time and strings, including
scrubbing of strings. Used Pro C for data retrieval functions.
Wrote Korn Shell scripts to execute my programs. The shell script would
email and page the appropriate people if any of the programs terminated
abnormally.
Blue Cross/Blue Shield- Phoenix, Arizona 7/99-
12/99
Software Engineer
Contractor on a health insurance claims processing application. Make
modifications to existing programs, including data scrubbing and querying
the database to count the number of rejected claims, and to convert
programs written in Pascal on an OS/2 system to C on a UNIX system. I
converted several Pascal programs dealing with claims processing into C.
AG Communication Systems (Lucent) - Phoenix, Arizona 3/98-
6/99
Software Engineer
Worked on a proprietary telecommunications switch used by GTE. The system
was developed in PASCAL and generates embedded 8086-assembler code. The
development platform is a SUN UNIX workstation. My duties included system
regression testing, test script development and fixing minor problems
reported by the customer.
Used Visual C++ on Windows 98 to create utility programs for work tracking.
Discount Tire Company- Scottsdale, Arizona 2/97-3/98
