SUMMARY
I'm a well-seasoned Project Management and IT Management specialist with 25
years of experience. My career has been defined by my in-depth technical
knowledge in networking, web based software and databases - SQL. I was an
early adopter of 'cloud' technologies .My love of "out-of-the-box" thinking
and least path of resistance -"can do" methods has been my mantra. In my
roles, I have consistently inspired an entrepreneurial attitude and
environment. I challenge, involve and encourage free thinking. I have re-
engineered and lead various high level projects. My forte has always been
growing client ideas into cost effective solutions and great end-user
experiences. My UK Ministry of Defense clearances enabled me to be involved
in extraordinary and challenging, specialized projects. My clearances are
still in date. I'm looking for my next new challenge.
EXPERIENCE
ROYAL NAVY FLEET COMMAND HQ, UNITED KINGDOM (JAN 2002 - AUG 2013)
IT/IS PROJECT MANAGER - SYSTEM ENGINEER/SOFTWARE ENGINEER
Contracted for 10 years in various roles serving units within Her Majesty's
Ministry Of Defense (equivalent to US Department of Defense) Royal Navy and
Royal Marines. Based at Fleet Command HQ. As a security cleared contractor
my role was to re-engineer and provide "best practice" and cost effective
hardware and software solutions, working to a high standard within the
defense systems framework, security requirements and civilian standards
such as ITIL. The role was autonomous, with direct reporting to the Unit
C.O. (Commanding Officer) and their senior staff. I gained a high security
clearance for the UK Ministry of Defense Forces as well as NATO, working on
projects up to Top Secret.
Projects included:
. Designed and implemented an Engineering Management Tool Set (local
terminology). Project "Fusion" is a cloud application that was globally
available in support of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines. Based at front-
line units, the system was on a war footing and provided instant reporting
and solutions for our fighting ships and personnel. I was Involved with
cross fertilization with the U.S. Navy 6th Fleet. The system was developed
over a period of years, encompassing 5-6 modules - Task Management, Support
Tool Set (Situation Reporting-Support Desk), Time Management, Personnel
Management and Local Procurement. The project resulted in an estimated
$10,000,000 saving in the first year. I was recommended for a unit award.
. Design and installation of heavily virtualized WANs for the Royal Naval
and Royal Marines. Ground-up design of integrated networks using various
architectures including OS's such as Microsoft Server, Hewlett Packard
proprietary system and Sun Solaris. Working to standard methodologies and
practices. These WANs were directly connected to the defense intranet.
. Support of NATO's (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) NSWAN (NATO Secret
Wide Area Network),
which provides Secret level operations, intelligence applications and
databases. This work included on-board installation, of Government
encryption technology and integration with various military and civil
satellite systems.
. Project managed the Royal Marines new beachhead communication network
system, based on various other technologies.

This was a first for the EA. It allowed the smooth operation of the
contract and minimized errors. The contract was in excess of $65m.
