Caterpillar Mining Trucks 2010-2012
Quality Management Director
Developed and deployed a global Truck supplier quality and launch
process. Managed global supply chain for on-time, defect-free start-up
of key component suppliers in Europe, India, and China.
ClydeUnion (formerly Union Pump Company; division of Textron) 2005-2009
Director, Quality and Warranty, 2008-2009
Developed and deployed a global Union Pump Level 1 ISO 9001 QMS system
and warranty processes to all Union Pump plants and service centers.
Manufacturing Manager, 2007-2008
Provided leadership, direction, and support to turn around the
Burlington, Ontario operation. On-time delivery performance improved
from ~10% to ~75% while overtime was cut from 15% to 5%. Led effort for
ISO 9001 surveillance and re-certification audits.
Director, Quality and Compliance, 2005-2007
Developed and launched a model business unit level ISO 9001 Quality
Management System covering all domestic, international, new equipment,
and service center sites. Championed the development, introduction, and
launch of an Export Compliance process covering all global Union Pump
sites.
Metaldyne Corporation 2000-2005
Progressed through increasingly responsible positions with this Tier 1
automotive engine/transmission component supplier working under QS-9000 and
TS-16949 quality and business standards.
Senior Program Manager, North American Forging Operations, 2004-2005
Program Management leader for the North American Forgings Division.
Responsible for the successful launch of two major customer business wins
and $24M in new forging/machining business; this work involved four
separate Metaldyne operations and multiple customer sites.
Group Quality and Program Management Director, Forming Technology Group,
2004
Quality and Program Management leader for the Forming Technology Group;
sales of $300M. Developed and deployed a product launch process targeted
to the forging business. Program leader for launch of $20M in new
business. Led continued improvements in customer rejections and scrap
levels. Led achievement of TS-16949 certification at all five plant
locations.
Group Quality Director, Powertrain/NVH and Forming Technology Group, 2001-
2003
Quality leader for the Powertrain/NVH Group; sales of $250M. Developed
and deployed a balanced scorecard, business performance measurement
system. Led effort to reduce customer rejections year over year by 80%
and scrap levels by 30%. Maintained QS-9000 certificates across five
operations.
Plant Manager, Litchfield, MI Operation, 2000-2001
Responsible for profit and loss at the largest Powertrain/NVH Group
plant; sales of $70M. Turned around
union relationships following a summer 2000 strike, improved
profitability and delivery performance of struggling service part
business, and improved profitability and quality performance through an
18% business volume downturn.

Progressed through three increasingly responsible positions with this Tier
1 auto and truck components supplier.

Transmission, 1995-2000
Responsible for developing quality strategies aligned with overall
business plans. Served as the primary liaison with customers on quality
issues. Led the Division to achieve and maintain QS-9000 certification.
Operations Support Manager, Automobile Engine Components Operation -
Europe, 1992-1995
Achieved and maintained ISO 9001 certification. Developed and
implemented continuous improvement training programs, including Kaizen,
for the Italian workforce. Introduced key measurements and benchmarking.
Rockwell International (now ArvinMeritor) Through 1992
Progressed from Design Engineer and was promoted through ten Engineering,
Management, and Product Quality positions in five locations throughout the
United States and Europe with this Tier 1 truck components supplier.
Quality Assurance Manager, Automotive Operations, Newark Truck Axle
Plant, 1990-1992
Responsible for MIL-I quality system, coordinated contract reviews, main
contact with prime contractor, government, and US Army on quality and
contract issues. Managed $4M budget and 35 personnel.
Director of Special Projects, Rockwell CVC, Italy; Truck Components
Division, 1989-1990
Coordinated and led a major product recall campaign, directed engineering
and process development, managed production areas and budget of $6M and
120 people. Program scope was more than $10M.
Director, Product Quality and Reliability, Italy; Truck Components
Division, 1985-1989
Accountable for all aspects of Quality Assurance and Product Reliability
programs. Launched the QMS and supplier development and launch process
for business unit. Managed warranty review and resolution process.
Earlier successes included increasingly responsible engineering and
management assignments culminating with Chief Engineer for a new axle
product line for IVECO Truck (in Europe) and Technical Director for the
Alcester, England plant. Completed leadership assignments in product
engineering, customer technical/warranty liaison, and quality.

Engineering, Wayne State University, Detroit. Further course work
completed within the University of Michigan Master of Management and Xavier
University MBA programs. Ongoing professional development includes

Black Belt Certification, Visual Workplace, 5-S, Kaizen, Continuous Flow
