INDUSTRIAL EXPERIENCE

Process Engineer - West Indies Alumina Company, Ewarton, Jamaica, Sept. 2003 – Dec. 2007

Team member in the Refinery Operations with technical experience in Bayer Process: Particle Size

Reduction, Solid-Liquid Mixing and Transportation, Vat Leaching, Heat Recovery, Solid-Liquid/Solid-

Vapor/Liquid-Vapor Separation; Heat Treatment; Feedstock Inventory and Energy Management;

Used process modeling and design skills and analysis of process data to identify and implement

solutions for various complex engineering problems: plant/process optimization; increase material

yields; improve product quality; develop productivity improvements; eliminate waste; and reduce

operating costs.

Modeled, designed, and managed the implementation of the Batch Cleaning System for Flash

o

Evaporation and Heat Recovery. Results $600K p.a. combined savings in energy reduction

and raw materials usage

Modeled, designed and implemented the Advanced Process Control (APC) system for

o

improving Bauxite Slurrying. Results $250K p.a. combined savings in energy and raw

material usage and increased production.

Designed and implemented several Process Monitoring/Analysis Tools including: Impurity

o

Removal Operations and Heat Exchanger Management;

Investigated and troubleshoot plant issues: review and analyze process data; develop and implement

appropriate corrective actions.

Project Engineer - Process Combustion Corporation, Aylesbury, U.K, Feb 2008 – June 2008

Provided support for the Design and Procurement of Thermal Oxidation System for Foster

Wheeler/Shell’s Mono-Ethylene Glycol Refinery, Jurong Island, Singapore

Conducted HAZOP study and Equipment Layout reviews

Led the procurement for the project: prepared equipment datasheets/specifications and Request-For-

Quotations (RFQs); awarded and managed contracts with suppliers/manufacturers.

Research Analyst - CRU International, London, U.K, June 2008 – July 2009

Team member in the Aluminum Business Unit – Raw Materials and Costs Teams, with responsibility for

developments in the global alumina/bauxite market; and bauxite-alumina refining and aluminum smelting

costs.

Designed a novel carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions and cost model for global aluminum smelting

Maintained model for operating costs of aluminum smelting globally

Monitored developments in, and maintained database for, global bauxite/alumina market covering:

demand, output, movement and challenges
