Modernized heat treating operation with on-site nitrogen generation system which replaced purchasing liquid

nitrogen from supplier. This change generated a $20,000 annual savings.

Developed import source for consumer product not competitive to produce in U.S. resulting in $100,000 savings.

Drove continuous improvement through Kaizen teams which reduced setup times in steel wire drawing facility by

90% and 30% reduction in work in process inventory.

Operational responsibility for multi-plant steel wire and wire products manufacturing company. Markets served

included packaging, food containers, hardwood flooring and wholesale florists. Functional responsibility for Pro-

duction, Purchasing, Quality, Safety and Human Resources. Developed import source for spooled wire used in

wreath-making not competitive to make in U.S. Savings $100,000

MANUFACTURING MANAGER, STANLEY BLACK AND DECKER; CLINTON, CT - 2002 - 2006

Led manufacturing team in steel wire production facility that was critical operation for Bostitch tool and fastener

plants. Bostitch is an $800M unit of Stanley Black and Decker which manufactures tools and solutions for home

builders and “do-it-yourself” industry. Plant had $40M in annual sales. Led production of wire drawing, heat treat-

ing and plating through four salaried direct reports and 110 indirect reports. Also was responsible for all MRO

procurement for the plant. Saved $240,000 through price negotiations and inventory reductions. Managed project

to automate production and labor reporting which eliminated two clerical positions. Was recognized by Division

President through a “WIN” award which was given to individuals who achieved high savings.

LEAN MANUFACTURING COORDINATOR - 1998 - 2002

Lead Stanley Production Systems effort which was modeled after Toyota Production Systems. Lead Kaizen

teams under tutelage of Japanese consultants that successfully reduced setup time 90% and reduced work-in-

process inventories 30%. Trained associates in 5-S, Kan-Ban, visual factory techniques.
