Project Manager

• Provided leadership and management to multi-discipline organization, consisting of Project

Managers, Systems Engineers, and Project Engineers.

• Responsible for execution of multiple concurrent projects, customer interface and project staffing.

• Performed formal project reviews, technical oversight, problem resolution, and resource management.

• Led a project team that included representatives from all company organizations in the creation

and certification of an ISO 9001 quality management system within a 6 month time period.

• Proposed, negotiated and planned project commitments and department budgets that were as

high as $16M annually and managed to within a 3% variance by developing detailed project

bid models and tracking performance weekly.

Division Technical Manager

• Managed a time-critical, highly visible Orbiter Boom Sensor System certification project that required

developing a set of integrated requirements across multiple components and validating system compliance

to requirements as one of the Shuttle Return-to-Flight constraints.

• Provided Program Manager level leadership for all NASA Engineering Planning and Control projects by

reviewing and approving all proposals, and monitoring task completion against the budget and schedule.

Some of the projects included developing requirements and testing the Design and Data Management

System, deploying the Technology Transfer Outreach Program, and providing inputs the NASA Project

Management Work Instruction and training material.

Staff, Special Projects

• Negotiated a contract exception with the customer and then expedited all tasks investigating the cause of

the Columbia accident, and was later recognized with the Lockheed Martin President’s Leadership Award

for this project.

• Addressed client relations and project issues and reported findings and potential solutions to facilitate

improvements that typically required procedural, technical, or personnel changes.

• Developed and taught a Customer Relations course to project personnel that focused on maintaining

relations, negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills.

• Participated as a member of the senior management team in monthly reviews of major projects.

SE&I Project Manager

• Led a project team that consisted of contracts, finance, projects, and schedulers in developing a solution to

streamline the client Request for Proposals to the company Proposal by developing a Technical Work Plan

software product protected responsibilities. Also tied the packages together to eliminate revision issues,

exceptions taken, and provide approval visibility.

• Provided project management for the development of the launch package and integrated modules mass

properties portion of the Space Station semiannual preliminary design analysis cycle.

• Led a project team in the development of a conceptual design associated with replacing the Shuttle

hydraulic system with electromechanical system.

• Project management instructor responsible for developing and teaching a three day course to over 800

individuals, including clients, project managers, and project engineers.
