PROJECT EXPERIENCE

Project 6 : Designing and developing Datamarts as part

of DW team of a Electricity distribution company of US

(Energy and Utilities vertical client).

Duration : April, 2013 - Till Now.

Environment : Informatica Power Center 9.1, Oracle 9i, Teradata,

Unix scripting, Salesforce.

Team Size : Dev Team - 15

Description : The client in this project is the electricity

distribution company of US. Basically we are fetching data

from different source systems like Oracle, SQL Server,

Salesforce or Flat files and dumping the data in staging

areas (Teradata) and then we analyze the data and apply

business logic and create dimensions and facts as part of

data marts (on Teradata) as per client's requirement .

These data marts are used by the reporting teams to

generate Bills/ Reports for the client. We are also

involved in Bug Fixing of the present code and Fine Tunning

the current applications. We are generally working in Star

Schema in this project.

Role :1) Working as BA for specific Data Marts for specific business

areas (Bill Print).

2) Analyze, Design and Code for the

requirements from the client as a BA.

3) Working closely with the Client and

Architects to get the requirements to closure.

Description : This is the second largest bank in Turkey. It is

upgrading its legacy system with latest technology to cater

its growing customer needs in efficient manner. IBM was

involved in the project aimed at developing dynamic system

for banking pricing system. There was a central fees &

commission system which was running on Z/Os. But the

abilities of this central system were not enough to cover

new coming business requirements. So the new system was

developed to replace fees & commission system by central

pricing hub system.

Role : 1) Technical lead for 6 member Dev team from offshore.

3) Preparing Designs for Converting DB2 Programs into Informatica

Description : Birlasoft was involved in all aspects of remodeling of

the EDW and fetching data from Oracle DB and creating

Dimensions and Facts into an efficient and high performance

Tearadata Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW). We have

successfully remodeled and tuned the present codes and

created new ones on Teradata to manage huge amount of data

up to the satisfaction of the client. We have also been

engaged in delivering BTEQ scripts as per the client's

requirement. The core functionality of the batches is to

process the Commercial Finance data of the client through

Informatica and load the processed data in the concerned

tables of the concerned dimensions, from where this data

would be used for some scorecard generation.

Description : TCS was involved in all aspects of creating and

migrating client's Data Warehouse from an existing

independent for each stores to a new centralized DW

system. We have successfully migrated over 6000 stores to

the new centralized system and the rest 1000+ are in

progress. We have also been engaged in delivering scripts

and batches of jobs to be run daily. The core functionality

of the batches is to process the patient and prescriber

data as required by the client through Informatica and send

them the processed data in flat files or through updates in

the concerned tables.

Description : Accenture participated in all aspects of creating

client's Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) for Customer

Service of EMC. Accenture shared responsibility for

managing the project, analyzing the business requirements,

creating the design, building/testing technical solution,

performing the initial cutover and stabilization. The EDW

is a fully customized data warehouse and data model that

was designed to support EMC's Customer Service business.

The core functionality of the warehouse supports reporting

and business intelligence on the following topic areas:

Service Requests, Install Base, Contracts, Accounts

Receivable, Products, Customers, Employees and hierarchy

information. The technical solution was made up of custom

Staging areas for data aggregation followed by the core

Data Warehouse. The system is now being completely

supported by Accenture as part of an Application

outsourcing deal.

Description : Meteorological Department of India has engaged

NDMI to maintain and enhance its geographic database

(GIS). The scope of this work includes maintenance of

its Geographic data, implementing changes as and when

required, and generating graphical reports through

ArcView GIS for the Geographic data of an area. The scope

also included the study of historic Geographic data and

analysis of its effect on the geographies in coming

future. The analysis of data may be to determine

different Geographic behaviors as and when required.

the parameter file because SQL has a limit of 1000 elements in

its IN condition and previously we needed to make separate

parameter files for each 1000 ids. Now we can handle in one file

only.

. Developing fix maps for processing of selected data based on some

unique columns.

. Performance tunning of the mappings by tunning on the database or

the map level which has sometimes reduced the time taken by the

map to 60 times.

. Helped client in debugging issues like special characters issue

(2 or 3 byte characters) which are not handled by Informatica 7

even by changing the page code settings.
