Objective

To obtain a managerial position in the operation of a medium to large injection molding company. I am looking for a company that I can grow within and expand my horizons.

Work Experience

October 2012 – present – Vention Medical – Operations Manager – Managed the day to day operations of Vention’s Kerrville facility. Responsible for all aspects of production, machine and facility maintenance. Launched TPM/RCM methodologies across the plant with a goal of zero defects, zero equipment failures and zero accidents. Instilled machine ownership to all employees resulting in operators taking responsibility for basic machine conditions. Started predictive maintenance routes utilizing vibration analysis, infrared inspection as well as oil analysis. Developed a cooperative relationship between the maintenance and production departments to achieve greater machine performance and reliability. Worked with each pillar team to establish realistic KPI’s and a clear path to achieve their goals. Developed criticality and risk ratings for all production and facility equipment to be combined with historical failure data to create a cost effective condition based monitoring program that minimized spare part inventory as well as maximizing equipment reliability.

October 2009 – October 2012 – GW Plastics – Shift Supervisor. Supervised a shift of 10-15 operators and support personnel to ensure customer orders were completed safely, defect free and on time. Left GW shortly after my daughter came to live with me for a more desirable school district.

October 2008 to October 2009 – Contract jobs found by recruiters.

One example would be a two month contract position in NJ where I was assisting in setting up the supporting auxiliary equipment and facility infrastructure as well as eventual start up of several high speed, thin wall consumer food packaging lines.

July 2005 to April 2008 – Atek Plastics

Sr. Process Engineer. As a member of the engineering team I have been very involved in all aspects of new product launches. From conception to production. My passion here has been the introduction of decoupled molding practices and the follow through required to make sure it is implemented consistently. I have worked with various mold builders, both here and in China, to make sure molds are capable of consistently producing parts within spec. I have worked with Autocad and Solidworks. I am very familiar with modern mold manufacturing techniques and have completed “Systematic Mold Building” through RJG. My goal throughout a product launch is to ensure that the customer receives a tooling package, as well as a complete process development, that will meet their expected requirements for the life of the project.

November 2003 - July 2005 Industrial Molding - Night Shift Supervisor. Working 12 hours shifts at a custom molder in Lubbock, Texas. I am responsible for all aspects on my shift including training, scheduling, and process maintenance. I had a roster of about 25 people that report to me.

April 2001 to Sept 2003 Head maintenance of a compounder/molder in Phoenix.

Duties included installing Silo monitoring equipment. New equipment installations and troubleshooting existing machines. Left to start college to receive some computer training (MCSE and Cisco).

January 2000 to April 2001 Engineered Plastics Components, Inc., Grinnell, Iowa

Joined this small company with multiple responsibilities, including mold setup technician and new mold sampling. For six months of my brief stay I was sampling new tooling for a mold builder in MN. They would bring molds to me for initial sampling and I would make recommendations that they would follow before sending the molds to their final destination. The majority of these molds were produced for dell computers and required very tight tolerances. Installed and programmed four AEC robots. Equipment includes a 2500-ton Cincinnati Milacron, the largest in the state. I have general supervisory accountability for all production staff.

January 1997 to December 1999 Mid-Central Plastics, West Des Moines, Iowa

3rd shift Process coordinator. Responsibilities included coordinating a crew of four process technicians, three mold setters and three material handlers. Requested a transfer to a day shift position as a process technician in early 1999.

1994 to 1997 Pella Plastics, Pella, Iowa.

Hired as a set-up technician. After six months was promoted to shift supervisor of a new six-press facility. After a few months, transferred to the main plant as second shift supervisor and team coordinator of 20-press operation. Responsible for staff of 25. Remained in that position approximately two years.
