I was a Member of a team of experts (a physician, a microbiologist, and a public health specialist) which visited Uddanam, a place in Srikakulam District of Andhra Pradesh in December 2007, where excessive cases of kidney diseases were reported in a short span. Ministry of Health, Government of India sent the team to investigate and submit the report on the increased number of kidney cases. I submitted the report wherein I emphasized the need for a well designed conducted analyzed multi center study and also emphasized for the need for a government supported ESRD program for the immediate benefit of patients and for a CKD preventive program for future. The report was accepted by the ministry and forwarded to Indian council of medical research for necessary action.

I was a Member of the committee for formulating guidelines for yellow fever vaccination for international passengers with HIV/AIDS.

I was on the panel of Advisors for the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), a recruiting agency for the Central Government officers into various civil services. I am on the panel for recruitment of medical officers in central government and other equivalent autonomous organizations.

I was on the panel of experts of Pt. Sunderlal Sharma Central Institute of Vocational Education (PSSCIVE) Bhopal, an apex level research and developmental institution. This institution has drawn experts from various walks of life and education to encourage, propagate vocational education and to design curriculum, syllabus etc., mainly for the girl child at secondary school level. This is expected to contribute to development in general and family welfare in particular. The vocational education also includes areas of health and Para medical courses. As an expert panel member I reviewed high school textbooks and recommended introduction of medically relevant topics in earlier classes. The scope of the same has been explored even in language (both English and vernacular) books.

I was on the selection committee of National Institute of Biologicals (NIB), New Delhi for recruiting medical and non medical scientists. NIB is set up by Govt. of India, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, with the assistance of USAID and OECF, Japan to undertake quality control of biological both imported and produced in the country.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

• I taught undergraduate medical students both bedside clinical lectures as well as class room didactic lectures for 3 years at All India Institute of Medical Sciences and continued to teach at other places of work too.

• At Air Port Health Organization I taught international health regulations and prevention of yellow fever to immigration staff and others.

• At GB Pant Hospital and Dr.RML Hospital I taught the interns and resident doctors posted in our unit on HIV, Rabies and other relevant topics.

SERVICE

• I have been a reviewer of abstracts for Annual Meeting of American Public Health Association for the year 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014.

• I have been on the panel of reviewers for Indian Journal of Medical Research.

• I have been a member of GRACE (Group for Research Advancement in Clinical Ethics), a registered society to help organizations which do not have their own IRB or ethical committees.
