Doctoral Research
Evaluated the cost and perceived outcomes of accreditation of FQHCs by The Joint Commission, utilizing an
•
exploratory descriptive interview style evaluating how macrosystem changes (accreditation) translate to
microsystem outcomes (delivery of healthcare). A case study methodology, with analysis of individual semi-
structured interview transcripts followed by cross-case analysis.
Perceived benefits and actual costs declined over time. All research participants reported that the process of
•
preparing for their first accreditation cycle incurred greatest benefit through the formation of quality
improvement committees and resulting quality initiative measures taken.
