Academic Project

Project Title: Scochastic Characterization of Information Propagation in Vehicular Adhoc Network

(VANET).

Most of the accidents each year on highways result from vehicles leaving the road or traveling unsafely

through intersections. Taking into account the constant growth of automotive market and the increasing

demand for the car safety, the potential of car-to-car connectivity is immense. A Vehicular Ad-Hoc

Network, or VANET, is a form of Mobile ad-hoc network, to provide communications among nearby

vehicles and between vehicles and nearby fixed equipment, usually described as roadside equipment.

Integrating a network interface, GPS receiver, different sensors and on-board computer gives an

opportunity to build a powerful car-safety system, capable of gathering, processing and distributing

information. Thereby VANET provides better road services to the end users by providing safety to the

passengers and drivers.

Technologies Used: VANET integrates multiple networking technologies such as Wi-Fi IEEE 802.11p,

WAVE IEEE 1609, WiMAX IEEE 802.16, Bluetooth, IRA and ZigBee.
