PROJECTS:

Title 1: Gas turbine blade cooling using pin fin cooling method(2012-2013)

Description: The project is aimed at the reduction of aircraft gas turbine blade heat using pin fin

cooling setup thereby reducing the damage of turbine vanes. Our study applies a systematic

computational methodology to the leading-edge film-cooling problem. Air is bled from the

compressor, sent directly to channels inside the blades and vanes, and then injected to the

exterior surface through an array of small holes. Film cooling is especially critical at the leading

edge of the turbine blades, since the largest thermal load occurs here and the cooling flow affects

the aerodynamics and heat transfer of the entire airfoil.

Title 2: Aircraft design project

Description: This project is done for the design of a light medium bomber aircraft with a mach

number at M=0.95 at 11km altitude and having a gross still air range of 4000km. This project

actually aims at the enhancement of the design knowledge.

INDUSTRIAL VISITS EXPERIENCE:

• Visited “Airforce station” at Tambaram,Chennai,India

• Visited “National Aerospace Laboratories”(NAL),Bangalore,India and obtained a

knowledge on avionics and navigation systems.
