I’m Jie Liu graduated from University of Florida with master degree in Chemical Engineering. I am familiar with the manufacturing environment with 2 industrial interns. Moreover, I have rich lab and many chemical analytical instruments operation experience, like GC, HPLC, UV-Vis, FTIR, MS, XRD and Spectrophotometer and so on. I am also proficient in computer skills, like Chemdraw, Origin, AutoCAD, ChemCAD, programing ability with VFP, Matlab, and office suite.

EXPERIENCE

Templates Fabrication and Research for Nanowires Growth, Nov 2011- Jan 2014. University of Florida, Gainesville FL

Cleaned and electropolished the aluminum sheet. Innovated and employed different reacting conditions electroanodizating aluminum to fabricate AAO templates according to different nanowire growth requirements.

Deposited Aluminum and interlayer metal onto ITO substrate to form a thin aluminum film by E-beam evaporation for the direct fabrication of AAO on ITO.

Deposited a very thin of functional polymer film on the ITO-coated glass by Spin-coater for adhering the fabricated AAO. And performed electrodeposition inside the formed AAO-ITO template to fabricate nanorods.

Mechanical and electrical design. Came up with the idea to apply the Timer Control Switch to control the whole roll-to-roll process for continuous AAO fabricating. Developed and troubleshot the set-up process both mechanically and electrically.

Worked as the lab safety manager. Classified, labeled and dealt with the chemical wastes according to the EPA list and MSDS.

Prepared the weekly report for tests, experiments and processes.

Phosphorus Modified ZSM-5 Zeolite for Catalytic Performance of the Cracking Reaction, Jun 2010-Jun 2011. Yangzhou University, China.

Synthetized and modified ZSM-5 zeolites, and analyzed with XRD, SEM, and IR. Titrated different phosphorus modified ZSM -5 and different Si/Al ZSM-5.

Tested and calibrated GC with standard propylene, ethylene and n-heptane. Set up reactor and loaded it with the modified ZSM-5 as catalyst of n-heptane cracking reaction. Detected the products with GC which connecting to the reactor. Determined the optimum gas flow rate and the reaction temperature.

Loaded reactor with different modified ZSM-5 to catalyze the n-heptane cracking. Tested the produces with GC and calculated the propylene content. Determined the optimum modified ZSM-5 catalyst.

A study of Inclusion Complexation of Water-solute Calixarene and Butyl Rhodamine B, Fab 2009–Oct 2009. Yangzhou University, China.

Calix[n]arenesulfonate synthesis, IR characterization. Measured the fluorescence intensity of BRB.

Tested influence of Concentration, Temp and pH respectively on inclusion reaction by Fluorescence Spectrophotometer.

Determined the stability constant and Thermodynamic Parameter.

Written the technical papers for publication.

Development and Application of a New Supermolecule Adsorbent, Feb 2008 – Dec 2008. Yangzhou University, China.

Applied and hosting the program to study the absorption ability of the derivatives of cyclodextrins for insoluble vitamin B delivery or tiny particle inclusion in waste water.

Implemented Beta Cyclodextrin to pack vitamin B and dissolved it into water. Investigated the influence of concentration, Temp and pH on the adsorption respectively by Fluorescence Spectrophotometer and UV-Vis spectrophotometer

Measured the thermodynamic and kinetics parameters. Determined the stability constant Thermodynamic Parameter

Workshop Process Design of Ethyl Acetate with Annual Output of 1560 Tons, Dec 2010-Dec 2010. Yangzhou University, China.

Compared different optional reactions, and chosen acetic acid and ethanol esterification method, H2SO4 as catalyst

Performed the basic preliminary analysis. Designed reactor, fractionating towers and other auxiliary equipment.

Utilized computer aided design tool AutoCAD to provide the final design sketch and proposal.

Internship in both the PP and PE polymerization workshop in the plastic plant
