EXPERIENCE: BOAT CAPTAIN, 2005 – present, Gastineau Guiding, Juneau, AK 99801
DUTIES: Taking passengers from cruise ships on a 2.5 hour whale watching
excursions, operating a coast guard certified, forty-foot, 28 passenger triple outboard monohull. Area
of operation included the inner-coastal waters of Southeast Alaska as well as topographic points of
interest.
Interpreting to passengers biological and behavioral characteristics of humpback whales and
other marine mammals, as well as history and information of the area.
Daily maintenance of the boat included pre and post trip which consisted of a maintenance log, as
well as fueling and general upkeep of the boat.
BOAT CAPTAIN, 2003 – 2005, Dolphin Jet Boat Tours, Juneau, AK 99801
DUTIES: Taking passengers from cruise ships on a 2 hour whale watching excursion,
operating coast guard certified, double and triple diesel jet boats with Hamilton jet outdrives ranging in
length from 26 ft., 18passenger to 40 foot, 30 passenger vessels.
Interpreting to passengers biological and behavioral characteristics of humpback whales and
other marine mammals, as well as history and information of the area.
Daily maintenance of the boat included pre and post trip activities which consisted of
maintenance log, as well as fueling and general upkeep of the boat.
BOAT CAPTAIN/FIRST MATE, 1998–2003, Four Seasons Marine, Juneau, AK
DUTIES: First Mate – to assist boat captain in daily operations of a coast guard
inspected and documented 100 ft. twin catapillar, 200 passenger crew boat. First Mate duties included
bridge watch, radar observer, wheel watch, 4-5 hrs per day maintenance and daily upkeep of vessel,
supervision of the crew to make sure that they performed their deckhand duties correctly and
efficiently. The Boat’s main excursion was to transport 100-150 passengers/miners from Auke Bay,
Alaska to Youngs Bay, Alaska twice a day, seven days a week, 365 days per year. Other operations
included 24 hour on call medivac services to Youngs Bay, Alaska as well as tourism operations during
the summer season.
