CAREER SUMMARY:

A highly experienced consultant analyst, database/software designer and programmer who have worked with IBM

AS400, initially started with S/36 platform, for more than twenty-seven years which includes 9 years as IT lead with

fulfilling the responsibility of development work on AS/400. Particularly, has worked in both financial, sales analysis

and manufacturing environments and has extensive knowledge of RPG II, CL, subfiles, RDBMS and OS/400

commands. Developed / implemented AS400 applications relating to accounting, accounts receivable, inventory

management, shop floor, bills of materials, labor hours, sales order management, payroll, actual costing, imported

costing, field force expense, sales analysis, materials requirements planning etc.

I have worked on many related technologies such as JDE 7.3 World Software which was developed in RPG on AS400

platform. I am also the key player for the implementation of JDE World 7.3 for MSD Pakistan, which is a subsidiary

of Merck & Co. USA, and providing technical support since 1999. This huge experience gave me the opportunity to

expose myself to all facets of information systems management, interfacing, integration with seamless business

processes. I have also got the opportunity to integrate AS400 custom developed applications with JDE World 7.3 via

EDI. I have travelled abroad for the regional meetings, trainings and gained international exposure of business

processes and diversified working environment. The countries visited in the continents of USA, Europe and Africa.

OBS Pakistan (Pvt.) Limited (From July 2008 till April 2014):

Position Title: Sr. Manager IT / IS

Overview: OBS had acquired the MSD Pakistan business from Merck & Co. USA effective from 1st July 2008.

Since then I continue working with OBS as Sr. Manager IT. Besides running IT operations, my main job responsibility

is to manage / develop AS400 custom systems and manage / support JDE World 7.3 for the OBS Group of the

companies:

Work Done As Applications Lead / RPG Developer:

1. Implementation of JDE World 7.3 for the Schering-Plough Pakistan Pvt. Ltd which was acquisitioned in

November 2010. Production environment created with system setups. The JDE modules implemented for SP

Pakistan are General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Procurement, and Quality Assurance Approvals:

a. Lead the project planning & tasks management.

b. Conducted prototyping/CRP sessions

c. Recommend/implement organizational role change.

d. Conducted mass data conversions and/or reconfigurations.

e. Configured JDE menus & processing options.

f. Designed and developed naming schemas and standards for inventory items, work centers, and

routings

g. Designed and implemented Business Process Frameworks.

h. Designed and developed management & key reports using JDE World Writer and FASTR tools.

i. Designed and developed bolt-on, stand-a-lone, integrated, and extension applications and databases

to support business processes, and extend JDE functionality by using JDE EDI.

j. Re-configuration of JD Edwards ERP software to align with new processes.

k. Setup of Lot Control; Purchasing-to-Inventory; Receipts Routing; Product Data Management with

generic items and Routing Standards.

2. Development / implementation of following custom applications on AS400 for the Schering-Plough Pakistan

Pvt. Ltd. Test environment created with system setups for UAT and then implemented in the live

environment. The following custom applications were developed and implemented for SP Pakistan:

a. Sales Accounting System with Invoicing and reports.

b. Finished Goods Inventory system with Gate Pass / Delivery Voucher and reports. Integrated with

JDE Quality approvals to update stock file.

c. Creation of journal entries in custom applications and integrated with JDE via EDI.

3. Developed custom Accounts Receivable system with integration to JDE via EDI.

4. Directed / planned / implemented the IT systems / applications to computerize and automate the business

processes.

5. Developed and modified new processes / programs in following custom AS400 applications to meet the

changing needs of OBS:

a. Inventory Management System.

b. Bills of Materials / Formula Management.

c. Production / Packaging Orders Release with shop floor documents printing.

d. Sales Accounting system for primary sales and cost of sales.

e. Costing system for WIP Cost / Cost of production with JE integration to JDE via EDI.

f. Finished Goods inventory to cater new business needs.

6. Deployed a GUI Sales Analysis system (SAS) for the business to drive effectiveness and achieve micro

analysis at brick level with access to all marketing and sales users. Developed the integration with sales

accounting system to upload primary sales data in SAS.

7. Evaluated SAP to bring One ERP platform for all OBS group of companies.

MSD Pakistan (Subsidiary of Merck & Co. USA) From October 1988 till June 2008:

Overview: Started my work as Sr. Programmer and then promoted to the positions of Analyst Programmer,

Applications Manager and last worked as Lead IT / IS. During these 20 years career with Merck, I was the only

programmer / developer resource for AS400 / JDE / RPG programming and AS400 operations.

SUMMARY OF ACHIEVEMENTS IN MERCK EMPLOYMENT:

1. Implemented JD Edwards in 1995 as a shell environment integrated with SPIDER II Financial Applications

Suite.

2. JD Edwards was a Merck standard ERP which was successfully implemented in March 1999 in MSD

Pakistan with an effective coordination with the regional office & local management and played a key

technical project lead role to achieve this goal in Pakistan for the head office & Manufacturing sites.

3. Implemented modules Address Book, GL, AP, Fixed Asset, Procurement, Product Data Management,

Inventory Management and Quality Assurance Approval process.

i. Developed and implemented month end emails system for the reminders and alerts to the related

business users. This system was integrated with every custom AS400 application.

j. Automated RPG reports via emails for the particular users and format of report can be PDF or

Excel.

6. Responsible for corporate / external audit of IT operations, security, infrastructure and applications. This

gave me an exposure of IT standards and its compliance.

7. MEA Portfolio Champion: Played a vital role as the Projects Portfolio Management Champion in year 2007

for the Middle East & Africa region involving six countries. Managed, organized and delivered the desired

motives of this role by using the Microsoft Project and other structured project management tools

successfully while guiding MEA IT Leads and providing related information to PMO office in Brussels.

8. Y2K Coordinator / Compliance: I was assigned the responsibility of Y2K projects coordinator for the MSD

Pakistan Human Health and Manufacturing sites in the years of 1998-2000. My one of the key

responsibilities was to evaluate all custom applications (including AS400 based) in terms of their risk of

failure and remedies to make these systems functional on roll over to 2000. All the systems were modified

and functional on rollover without any hindrance in business operations.

9. Played a key role for the design, development and project management of the Expense Reporting System for

the Field Force and interfaced this system with Calls Reporting System to track field visits to doctors and

integrated with JDE via RPG developed custom application to generate payment vouchers automatically

without any manual efforts with email sending feature for the electronic pay slips.

• ICI Pakistan Ltd: Started my career as Trainee Programmer to assist in applications development in RPG

Using flat file data base structure on S36. Mainly worked on Inventory systems and reports development.

• Glaxo Pakistan Ltd: Joined as Programmer on a six months contract for RPG development of a Lab Testing

program as part of their laboratory systems.

• Merck Marker: Joined as programmer to develop new applications and manage an ERP implemented by

their parent company based in Germany. Mainly, worked on manufacturing systems with their integration to

financial and costing systems.
