RESEARCH EXPERIENCE

Research Assistant

North Dakota State University, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Sept. 2010- May

2014 (4 years), Fargo, ND.

Enzyme cleavable, echogenic liposomes: Synthesized and purified small peptides,

characterizing them using HPLC, CD spectroscopy, and mass spectrometry. Prepared

enzyme cleavable liposomes and characterized them for release, ultrasound reflectivity,

size, and zeta potential.

Polymer-coated, acoustically reflective lipid nanoformulation: Developed and

characterized redox-sensitive, polymer-coated lipid nanoparticles.

pH-tunable, echogenic liposomes: Developed and characterized a tumor-targeted

doxorubicin liposomal formulation which has a tunable echogenic and triggered-release

property as a function of pH.

Multifunctional polymersomes: Characterized diblock polymers using size exclusion

chromatography, differential scanning calorimetry, and Zetasizer. Prepared and

characterized folate-targeted, redox-sensitive, echogenic polymersomes that encapsulate

gemcitabine and doxorubicin. Tested monolayer and 3D spheroids of HeLa and MCF-7

cell lines.

Research Executive-Trainee

Lupin Pharmaceuticals- Analytical R&D, Sept. 2009–Aug. 2010 (1 year), Pune, India.

Development and validation of stability-indicating HPLC assay methods for different

drugs and their combinations in formulations according to ICH and FDA guidelines.

Ion Chromatographic (IC) Assay for formulations: e.g., Calcium Gluconate Injections.

Test formulations (tablets, capsules, and oral suspensions) for their dissolution and

disintegration profiles according to USP requirements.

Long-term stability studies of drugs/formulations using the HPLC and UPLC

Test the moisture content of tablets and capsules using Karl Fischer Apparatus.

Write development reports, validation protocols, and SOPs for all dissolution-related

substances and assay methods developed.

Research Trainee

United States Pharmacopeia, July 2008– July 2009 (1 year), Hyderabad, India.

Development and validation of stability-indicating HPLC assay methods for different

drug formulations according to ICH guidelines.

Test new compounds and/or their formulations for their stability and related

substances with HPLC analysis (Waters-Empower Software).

Long-term stability studies of compounds or their combinations using HPLC.

Rahul Nahire – M.S. Pharmaceutical Analysis

Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot analytical instruments.

Daily calibration of weighing balances and pH meters.
