Title:“Isolation and Characterization of Endophytes from Medicinal Plant”

Brief Summary of Dissertation work:

Endophytic bacteria were isolated from Chlorophytum borivilianum (Safed Musli),

a medicinal plant and screened for enzymes of biotechnological importance. Six

bacterial species were isolated from C. borivilianum. Isolated endophytes showed

different biochemical and morphological characteristics. Most of the isolates were

gram positive spore formers while one belonging to Pseudomonas group which

showed esterase activity. Several isolates were amylase and protease positive

and two were pectinase positive. Isolates were subjected to 16s r-DNA

sequencing and amplification. The bacteria isolated were Bacillus subtilis,

Bacillus pumilus, Bacillus megaterium, Staphylococcus pasteuri and

Pseudomonas mendocina.
