Fannie Mae, Washington DC Dec. 97 to June '98
Responsibility included Support, Configure, Install, Trouble shoot the database problems,
develop code, assist the developers on Sybase, MS SQL Server databases. Supported wide
range of database applications company wide primarily on a Production unit. I was involved
in Production support as well as Development and Acceptance support on Sybase, MS Sql
Server systems. The systems maintained on very large databases ( VLDB ), the support and
development was very critical to the business applications. Systems monitored on round the
clock basis.
Credit Loss Management (CLM) system: As a member of CLM production
support team was able to improve the performance and stabilize the
critical processing of CLM suite of systems. The improvements in the
system stabilized the environment and increasing the system availability
time from 11:00 a.m to 8:00 a.m. each day. Due to the team's efforts
Fannie Mae was positioned to roll out a key third party business
initiative.
Recourse Analysis and Processing (RAPS) system: Involved in improving the
reliability and performance of RAPS batch processing. The daily, weekly
and monthly batch processing required time more than available in the
batch window, causing users to lose the system during the day.
Identified performance enhancements, automated manual processes, setup
regular database performance monitoring, and tested and installed one of
the first SUN Ultra 5000s. The result of our support activities was
reduction in the batch processing time by about 100 hours and 300%
improvements in the on line response time.
Event Fault Management(EFM) system: Main task was to recognize and react
to business process interruptions. Worked closely with infrastructure and
applications teams to develop prototypes in advance of developing
production models. Exceeded the challenge by implementing key
enhancements for early problem detection and faster notification to the
correct support group. The efforts resulted in reducing the number and
severity of problems in the environment, minimizing risks to on going
business processes and increasing the reliability of the environment.
