Title : HIGH SPEED PIPELINED BASED LOSSLESS IMAGE COMPRESSION

USING VLSI- ORIENTED FELICS ALGORITHM

Scope : To achieve high speed image compression using VLSI-Oriented FELICS

Algorithm in low power with high compression efficiency

Description : The VLSI-oriented FELCIS algorithm has two main techniques, Run

Length Encoding and Golomb–Rice code with storage-less parameter

selection. The Run Length Encoding takes advantage of the fact that

certain data sets contain sequences of recurring, identical symbols. Those

repetitions will be replaced by declaring the length of the sequence.

Golomb–Rice code, the storage-less parameter selection removes the

data dependency. The FELICS with Run Length Encoding reduces the

power consumption and improves compression ratio.

Tools : Xilinx ISE, Model SIM, Mat-lab.
