Former research assistant for Dr. Linzhao Cheng at Johns Hopkins Medical
School, the research entitles the converting of immature erythrocytes,
which have been converted by corrected induced pluripotent stem cells from
the bone marrow of infected subjects, into mature red blood cells. We are
currently testing different growth factors and methods to investigate what
can make these immature red blood cells turn their hemoglobin gene on to a
high enough level as it is in normal adult hemoglobin gene.
