materials and totally new digital components with emphasis on transition to

a digital product market. Produced resource estimates, schedules for

internal and partner teams and general project organization. Results

included identification of risks, escalation of issues and guidance to

resolution, as well as integrated oversight for the full project.

Chicago Public Schools (CPS) Project Manager April 2011-

September 2012

Google replacement for Dual Email Systems: Led team to negotiate contract

with Google and Subcontractor to install Google Mail and Applications to

replace Outlook and proprietary mail and conferencing system. Estimated CPS

savings will be over $2.5M annually. Delivered contract on time and within

CPS budget goals.

Printer Management and Cost Reduction: Negotiated Statements of Work and

managed project to reduce the number of print devices in the Central

Office, centralize device management and provide single source proactive

service. Estimated annual savings of $400k. Kept project on time and on

budget for all deliverables.

Compass: Early College program: Worked with Early College team to deliver

ACT testing capability to CPS High Schools instead of City College sites,

thus expanding the availability of the test and lowering the cost to CPS.

Web sites: Led teams to explore options for redevelopment of CPS web sites

for CPS Staff and for external community. Projects not approved for

implementation.

PMO: Worked under the direction of the PMO Manager to support Portfolio

Management, update PM templates and support professional, standardized

project management driven by CPS Information IT.

US Bank Senior Project Manager

October 2008 - October 2010

Owned and managed individual projects; managed groups of related projects

within programs across releases, for one of the Bank's "Top 10" programs.

Took projects from idea through completion, by building and using effort

driven project plans and US Bank PMI derived methodology.

Electronic Payment Systems: Took over underperforming system upgrade

projects. Delivered ahead of schedule; managed change control to deliver

projects to spec. while also correcting pre-existing production defects.

I-901: Managed projects for acceptance of payment for U.S. Immigration and

Naturalization Service.

Security: Managed project to upgrade customer and bank security for token

PMO: Planned, launched and managed PMO. Improved Accounts Receivable to 95%

on time; implemented resource allocation system; aligned PMO and all

individual projects with corporate financials; propagated project

management discipline through all projects for firm and clients. Oversaw 3

full time and several part time PM's with review, hiring and firing

responsibility. Managed firm's largest projects.

Wayne County, Michigan: Roads Information Management System: $3M

implementation of Work Management system with complex inter systems

integration. Participated in contract negotiations and managed project.

Built fully functional Proof of Concept. Project received approval for full

implementation. Kept to schedule and budget.

National Cancer Institute - Bio Informatics Grid: With SAS Institute.

Designed, implemented and launched fully functional prototype system for

tracking all research assets, partnership and resources for the NCI.

Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago: Developed

contract and launched project for Enterprise GIS, a $900K implementation of

enterprise GIS system including, policy, governance, infrastructure, data

layers and loading and initial application. Managed $300K upgrade for 10

additional applications.

Pasco County, Florida: Land Management System. Supported contract

negotiations, managed initial analysis, project launch and transition to on

site PM. Oversaw on site PM and managed accountability for project goals.

Walgreens: Helped build contract bids and cost proposal resulting in

contract for GIS systems upgrades and new systems development. Performed

Financial PM for project; supported transition into continuing on site

program.

INSIGHT (COMARK) Senior Project Manager

August 2002 - January 2005

Managed multi site technology projects and product rollouts from remote

location and on site at client locations. Owned responsibility for P&L and

profit margin targets. Participated in PMO methodology development and

implementation with some responsibility for review and hiring of PM's.

Delphi Project and Program: Supported proposal development, contract

negotiation, and contract completion for national program to implement

wireless diagnostic and repair system for General Motors dealers and

service providers. Ran the project management through development, proof of

concept, pilot, initial installations and transition to long term routine

Office Depot: Managed technology refresh for 875 stores in US and Canada.

Kroger: Managed multi state rollout of job application kiosks at retail

grocery sites.

CVS: Converted serial network to WAN/LAN for over 100 pharmacy sites in

multiple states.

AMICA Insurance: Planned and managed multi state server upgrade in branch

offices. Delivered on time despite record snowstorms and repeated

additional proof of concept tests. Project allowed client to reduce cost,

and improve profit and gross margin.

FEX: Managed multi state project to develop and implement upgraded

operations management software for warehousing and logistics sites for

national produce supply vendor.

Artisan Partners: Managed data center relocation for multibillion dollar

private equity trading firm.

CNA FINANCIAL Project Manager / Senior Project Manager

May 1998 - July 2002

Managed and supported numerous, simultaneous technology projects for

multiline insurer with $16 billion in annual revenue. Served as customer

liaison with business units and managed business line projects. Implemented

portfolio management and Project Management Office. Helped hire and

evaluate PM's. Led cross-functional teams on infrastructure projects,

application upgrades and implementations. Assisted in process improvement

efforts.

Asbestos Claims Management: Moved project team from conflict to cooperation

to deliver infrastructure critical to retaining $175M annual business.

Delivered on time, under budget, created long-term working relationships.

HR Data Center Migration to Outsourced Service: Led the relocation of

applications and hardware infrastructure when HR Information Systems was

outsourced, without documentation of scope. Delivered on time uninterrupted

payroll and benefits service, improved data security, core application

upgrades, and applications rationalization within Corporate HR.

Risk Management Thin Client: Developed successful campaign and led a

corporate wide move into thin client technology resulting in

standardization and consolidation of servers and support infrastructure,

Legal Claims Tracking: Performed risk, cost and business value assessments

that led to termination of high cost Legal Counsel system before funds were

spent. This minimized legal exposure and secured immediate savings of over

$1.2 million. Prior system was phased out, not replaced.

Load Balancing: Delivered CNA's first production load balancing

implementation to Commercial Insurance New Claims Architecture, a new

application providing crucial service to sales agents. Created production

and support environment for the entire enterprise.

Application Rationalization: Led post reorganization effort to begin

rationalizing applications for Risk Management and Human Resources.

Risk Management: Performed project management for consolidation and

relocation of Risk Management Data Centers. This included Internal Data

Center Review, cost analyses, hardware, software and site infrastructure;

analysis and improvement of operations and of product delivered to end

users.

Risk Management Payroll: - Relocated Risk Management Payroll system from

Michigan to CNA Data Center, with server and software upgrades and

standardization.

1992- April 1998

Liaison between business/medical units and Information Services. Managed

and supported the selection and implementation of departmental, site and

corporate systems. Enabled client computing with business plans, vendor and

project management, and operational service. Led, site, corporate and

department quality improvement teams. Surveyed customers and studied

operations to bring customer orientation to IS initiatives and vendor

proposals.

Materials Management: Led the RFI, RFP, vendor selection and site analysis

for materials management and accounts payable system for a $500 million

dollar per year organization with five hospitals and a central corporate

office. Resulted in successful system wide implementation at all sites.

Christ Hospital Emergency Department: Managed projects from vendor

selection to implementation and support for: Activity tracking system

$250,000; Physician On Line Charting system, > $200,000. Supported

restructuring and expanding Emergency Department to create separate

children's' Urgent/ER Care resulting in on time, under budget, opening of

state of the art, showplace facility.

Surgery Infrastructure: Coordinated installation of Patient Care

Information Systems and system conversions for a new $40 million, state of

the art in-patient surgery building. Opened on time with all systems

operational.

Radiology: Drove program to modernize the information technology for Christ

Hospital Radiology, coordinated with all Advocate hospitals. Included

Imaging Strategy; the first digital imaging / archiving system; first dual

fiber optic / ethernet network; new Radiology digital dictation system. All

were on time, on budget, per specification.

Founded Information Center to support end users, improve efficiencies and

make computing resources available for use as effective business tools.

Managed staff, directed training, hotline, and help desk components.

Joined interdepartmental teams for planning and implementing systems

senior management on Information Services Strategic Plan.

Information Center Management: Revamped Help Desk serving more than 1,200

users. Increased support by one shift per week while reducing staff.

Revitalized staff commitment and morale by setting development targets,

tracking accomplishments, and managing time effectively. Results included

database for employee health; database system to manage volunteers, and

LAN Implementations: Planned, implemented and managed the first LAN
