A. RESEARCH EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

1. Analytical Techniques

I have more than five years experience in the practical use of advanced

analytical techniques including differential scanning calorimetry (DSC),

dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA), TGA, FTIR, Raman spectroscopy, HPLC,

GC/MS, GPC, NMR, scanning and transmission electron microscopy (SEM-EDXA),

confocal microscopy, live animal fluorescence imaging (Xenogen), spin

coating, spray drying, rheometry, potentiometry, and cyclic voltammetry.

2. Materials Chemistry

In my research projects over the past five years, I have designed, produced

and characterized a variety of natural and synthetic polymers including:

. Chitosan-functionalized mPEG-PLA (ring-opening polymerized) polymeric

nanoparticles for targeted in vivo co-delivery of nucleic acids, drugs

and MRI contrast agents using mouse model of human cancer

. Molecular imprinted polymeric nanoparticles for pH-activated drug

release

. Thermoactive polymeric nanoparticles for controlled, temperature-

inducible drug release

. Photocrosslinkable hydrogel coatings for implantable glucose sensors

. Injectable ROS (reactive oxygen species)-activated chitosan-PEG

hydrogel as stem cell carrier for regenerative medicine

. Small molecular weight polyacrylamide by precipitation polymerization

. Poly(acrylamide-co-styrene) by emulsion polymerization

. Cationic polyacrylamides using Hoffmann degradation of polyacrylamide

or poly(acrylamide-co-styrene)

3. In vitro / in vivo safety testing, pharmacokinetics and evaluation

. determine drug loading and release kinetics, cytotoxicity, cell uptake

and subcellular release of the formulation's payload in vitro

. measure the biodistribution, toxicity, and delivery efficiency of the

drugs and nucleic acids in various formulations in vivo (rodent

models)

. synthesize and characterize biocompatible polymer composites for

implantable biosensors and tissue engineering in vitro and in vivo.
