Email: accwgj@r.postjobfree.com Tel: 617-***-****

OBJECTIVE

To obtain a position that draws upon my interpersonal skills and interdisciplinary experience in mechanical engineering

(design, construction, modeling, mechanical testing, and imaging), physiology (cardi ovascular, respiratory, and

musculoskeletal) and chemistry (surfactant) and requires experience bridging fundamental science wit h constituent

needs, team building, problem solving and/or improved quality control.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Northeastern University, Boston, MA (Sep. 2009-May 2013) & (Jul. 2013-Dec. 2013)

Research Assistant

The focus of the research was in evaluating the surface-active properties of pulmonary surfactant under different inhaled

environments to identify the cause of surfactant’s malfunction under high concentrations of oxygen.

Designed, built and validated a completely customized equipment for: (1) testing mechanical behavior of inflated

intact lung under different inhaled environments, (2) imaging lung tissue on the microscopic scale during large

deformation using Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), (3) testing the surface-active properties of lung

surfactant under different environmental conditions (4) measuring particle size of lung surfactant molecules

Established customized testing protocols and conducted test method validation to provide clinically relevant

data on soft tissue and soft tissue extracts, in a mechanical testing lab environment

Devised protocols to ensure that the controls are in place to better evaluate the effect of changi ng variables

Combined multi-scale mechanical and optical techniques (OCT, Light Scattering) to explore dynamic properties

of lung surfactant

Abiomed Inc., Danvers, MA Feb. 2008-Aug. 2009

R&D Engineer

The purpose of the undertaken project was to design, fabricate, and evaluate the biocompatibility, performance, and

manufacturing feasibility of a polyurethane (Angioflex® – Abiomed Inc., Danvers, MA) heart valve.

Modeled experimental components using 2D/3D CAD software for implementation in FEA/CFD packages

Fabricated Angioflex® heart valve prototypes in a cleanroom environment for in-vitro and in-vivo studies

Designed and performed in-vitro experiments to evaluate the calcification resistance of Angioflex® heart valves

Developed experimental protocols and trained other staff to understand and follow the procedures

Deployed LEAN Six Sigma methodologies (DMADV, FMEA) and statistical analysis to identify and evaluate

opportunities for improvement inherent in the calcification process of polyurethane heart valves

Developed procedures and executed plans to evaluate process repeatability and stability through e quipment

qualification and process validation

Energy Industries’ Engineering & Design (EIED), Tehran Jan. 2002-Aug. 2007

Stress Analysis & Support Design Lead Engineer (10/03-8/07)

Stress Analysis & Support Design Engineer (1/02-10/03)

The undertaken project was one of the largest gas fields in Iran; South Pars Gas Field Phases 9&10, including 8,700 pipe

lines and more than 1.6 billion US dollars estimated cost.

Supervised 13 employees, assigned projects, provided technical su pport, maintained a collaborative

environment, and ensured high levels of productivity

Reviewed and approved project specifications in compliance with ISO 9001 quality standards

Reviewed drawings and bill of material (BOM) to clarify details for material a nd equipment procurement

Planned and executed weekly staff meetings and facilitated multidisciplinary activities

CERTIFICATES

Six Sigma Green Belt, Abiomed Inc., August 2009

7.5 PDHs for “CFD Fundamentals and Applications”, ASME Santa Clara Section, Novemb er 2012

5.5 PDHs for “Non-Linear FEA for Failure Analysis and Drop Test Analysis”, ASME Santa Clara Section, October 2013
