EXPERIENCE

United States Enrichment Corporation (USEC Inc.), Oak Ridge, TN

Sr. Process and Test Engineer Feb. 2009-Present

Lead Process and Test Engineer at American Centrifuge Demonstration facility responsible for overseeing assembly, installation and testing of Verification Test Centrifuges. Major tasks include developing schedules and cost estimates for building prototype machines, creating procedures and test plans for centrifuge characterization studies (including data analysis) and performance testing, issuing design changes to the commercial plant machines based on the test results. Performing Job Hazard Analysis and Risk Analysis for the safe operation and testing of centrifuges within the DOE guidelines.

Responsible for Uranium Hexafluoride (UF6) processing for the centrifuge test facility. Developed Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping and Instrumentation Drawings (P&IDs) and configuration control systems for UF6 operations. Designed chemical traps for selectively removing Hydrogen Fluoride from the product streams. Supervised maintenance crew in trouble shooting, repairing and carrying out preventive maintenance of UF6 sublimation/desublimation systems, vacuum pumps, flow elements and valves in the facility on a daily basis. Performed valve reliability study resulting in US$500,000 cost savings for the company.

Developed a Quadruple Mass Spectrometer capable of taking on-line samples of feed, product or tails, UF6 gas streams of an operating centrifuge.

Composites Process Engineer II Feb. 2008-Feb. 2009

Primary Process Engineer in Radome bonding and polyurethane calendaring operations.

Programmed and maintained all cure ovens and high temperature furnaces in the composite manufacturing area.

Experienced with various surface preparation techniques such as aluminum oxide blasting, sand blasting, and wet etching.

Worked with various thermoplastic and thermoset plastics such as epoxies, polysulfides, polyurethane, Imides and RTV silicones and characterized their properties using rheology studies, lap shear testing, shore hardness testing.

Project engineer job responsibilities include creating manufacturing bill of materials, disposition hardware using SAP shop floor control system, generating NCRs, quality notes, creating and maintaining manufacturing procedures and work instructions, participating in MRBs, FRBs and corrective action boards.

Cure study optimization of bonding and paint process using DOE.
