Research Assistant. Supervisor: Dr. Angela Asirvatham.

o Explored the role of A-Kinase Anchoring proteins (AKAPs) in heregulin-stimulated proliferation of

Schwann cells.

o Confirmed the presence of AKAP-95 in Schwann cells and showed that AKAP-95 localizes to the

nucleus in response to heregulin treatment.

Research Assistant. Supervisor: Dr. Larry Pedersen.

o Screened medicinal plants, collected during a trip to Nicaragua, for cytotoxic compounds with the

goal of identifying anticancer agents.

o Extracted the leaves, fractionated the extracts using column chromatography and measured the LD50

Co-Investigator. Supervisor: Dr. Iran Shenkar and Dr. David Warmflash.

o Participated in designing and preparing the experiment aimed at studying the formation of thin layer

of microbial cells on inorganic crystalline surfaces, in the weightless and radiation-intensive

conditions that prevail in space.

o The experiment orbited the earth on board the ill-fated STS-107 Columbia Shuttle.
