Business Solutions Provider III/ Incident Management
As part of the AS/400 ISeries Medical Claims Support Team, I resolved
trouble tickets on Genelco Software using RPG IV, COBOL, CLP, SQL, & PC
Support. Modified Provider Matching programs using RPG IV advanced string
functions and imbedded SQL that increased the percentage of accepted
incoming claims from 60% to 90%. As part of the Emerald Performance Team I
acted as the initial point of contact for all incidents and performed
"triage" directing the Ticket to the appropriate Support areas such as:
Hardware, Security, Connection/Network, I-Series (software), Workstation,
Email, etc. Personally managed and or resolved over 100 trouble tickets in
30 days. Coordinated follow-ups on service after each incident. Monitored
high severity incidents to improve service. Operated and monitored
computer and peripheral equipment. Coordinated the efforts of all
daily/scheduled functions to complete them in a timely manner. Documented
all problems (hardware, application, server, etc.) and took corrective
action as required. Managed and performed troubleshooting/resolution of
daily transfer of Financial, Orders and Sales Information from the AS/400 I-
Series via TCP/IP (ODBC) to a Windows Mgmt. Reporting System for
distribution to Upper Management, Sales Managers, etc. Debugged and fixed
I-Series RPG IV programs when necessary. Also did some Lotus Notes
support/programming and bar code programming.
Ceres Group, Inc., Strongsville, OH December 2003
- November 2006
AS/400 Programmer Analyst
Developed the Interface from the AS/400 ISeries to the (Windows,
Client/Server-based) General Ledger
System allowing the ability to load information by state directly into the
ledger and to create reports in
Excel that directly link into the ledger. Part of a 2-man team that
converted the Front End Claims system
from SQL Server to the AS/400 ISeries (Genelco Claims System), utilizing
free-format RPG, Prototypes
and new/improved date and character-string functions. The programmer
responsible for 1099 processing
on the AS/400 ISeries for 2004 and 2005, including IRS-mandated changes and
balancing. This allowed
Accounting to electronically file utilizing the FIRE system, extending the
due date, allowing more time to
fix errors in the filings. It also included the creation of a TIN matching
file for transmission to the IRS to
contribute to greater filing accuracy. Helped Test ISeries OS400 PTF
patches/upgrades.
Belden and Blake Corp., Strongsville, OH March 1995 -
June 2003
Network Administrator/Programmer Analyst
Resolved over 250 AS/400 ISeries and Windows 2000 help desk
problems/requests in 2003. Installed and converted Citrix Apps. Helped
convert over 200 PC desktops from Novell and Windows NT 4.0 to Windows
2000. Managed 200 users with Active Directory and Group Policy; this
included Daily File Backups and Restores. Provided front-line support of
mission-critical Geology and Land Management applications thereby
decreasing downtime and keeping the applications up to date. Helped
convert over 3000 (JD Edwards) Financial and Energy Management programs
from RPG III to native RPG/400, including Year 2000 enhancements. Made
substantial modifications and improvements to Commercial Gas
Invoicing/Reporting, Joint Interest Billing and Order Entry RPG/400 and CLP
programs. Part of a 3-person staff that provided programming and
operations support for over 200 users.
Doctors Hospital of Stark, Massillon, OH November 1977
- November 1995
Programming Services Supervisor, Systems Programmer, Senior Programmer,
Operations Supervisor,
Junior Applications Programmer, Computer Operator
Project leader and main programmer for installation of a major
release of Admission/Discharge/Transfer,
Patient Billing and A/R, and Order Communications software (Burroughs
Hospital Accounting System/
Burroughs Hospital Inpatient System). This involved over 1600 programs.
Wrote and modified RPG III and CLP code for Payroll/Personnel software to
activate Direct Deposit, Paid Time Off, and Pension programs, providing
additional benefits for the employees. Debugged and improved on-line
system software. Wrote new RPGIII and CLP programs for submitting Medicare
claims via magnetic tape resulting in a substantial increase in payments
received. Assisted in writing, testing, and documenting software for an on-
line, real-time Admission and Data Entry system. This system provided
faster, more efficient, and more reliable handling of accounting and
patient data than the former on-line batch system. These programs were
