Student Research Fellow (belonging to a Research Experience for Undergraduate program)
Tested the hypothesis that: blood vessels can be fabricated using macroporous gelatin beads (CultiSphers)
containing vascular cells i.e. endothelial and vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs).
•Successfully cocultured endothelial and smooth muscle cells with CultiSpher- G (macroporous gelatin
beads).
• Adequately immunolabeled cells in the fabricated tubular constructs. to view cell sorting and cell bridging
via confocal microscopy (Leica SP2 and SP5).
•Recognized and discovered cellular prostheses in the coculturing of primary endothelial and smooth muscle
cells with CultiSpher-G.
