Clinical year student working at Texas Tech
University Surgical Department. Involved in all
aspects of patient care from pre surgical to surgical
to post surgical care, which included: detailed
history and physical examinations, development of
treatment plans, suggestion of medications, ordering
and interpretation of laboratory tests and diagnostic
studies. Served as first assist on several surgical
cases.
Jan. 2- Feb. 5, 2013 Obstetrics and Gynecology Rotation, Layne Barnes DO,
Hereford, TX. Clinical year student working at
Hereford Medical Clinic, a rural family practice
clinic that also served the OB/GYN needs of the
community. Involved in all aspects of patient care,
including: detailed history and minor physical
examinations, development of treatment plans,
suggestion of medications, ordering and
interpretation of laboratory tests and diagnostic
studies. Due to the sensitive nature of this
specialty and the feelings of patients toward male
students, I was less involved in the physical
examination but still fully involved in all other
aspects of patient care.
Feb. 11- Mar. 19, 2013 Family Medicine Rotation, Sean Green PA-C, Canyon,
TX. Clinical year student working at Family Medicine
Center of Canyon, a community family practice clinic.
Involved in all aspects of patient care, including:
detailed history and physical examinations,
development of treatment plans, prescribing of
medications, ordering and interpretation of
laboratory tests and diagnostic studies, and patient
education. I also spent some time in the walk in
urgent care center as part of this rotation.
Mar. 25- April 30, 2013 Emergency Medicine Rotation, Donald Hubbard MD
and Farley Mba MD, Pampa, TX. Clinical year student
working at Pampa Regional Medical Center, Emergency
Medicine Department. Involved in all aspects of
patient care, including: detailed history and
physical examinations, development of treatment
plans, writing medication prescriptions, ordering and
interpretation of laboratory tests and diagnostic
studies, and patient education. Many of the physical
examination shortcomings in my OB/GYN rotation were
made up for here.
May 6- June 11, 2013 Psychiatry Rotation, Que Nguyen MD, Amarillo, TX.
Clinical year student working at the Veterans Affairs
Health Care System, Psychiatry Department. Involved
in all aspects of patient care, including: detailed
history, suggestion of treatment plans, suggestion of
medications, ordering and interpretation of
laboratory tests, and patient support and education.
I also had the privilege of spending a week working
with patients in the addiction recovery inpatient
program.
June 17- July 23, 2013 Geriatrics Rotation, Alan Arvello PA-C, Amarillo,
TX. Clinical year student working at Amarillo
Medical Group, a clinic designed to serve geriatric
patients. Involved in all aspects of patient care,
including: detailed history and physical
examinations, development of treatment plans,
prescription of medications, ordering and
interpretation of laboratory tests and diagnostic
studies.
PROFESSIONAL LICENSURE AND CERTIFICATIONS:
Pending Idaho State Physician Assistant license.
The only thing needed to get my license is a
supervising physician to fill out some final
paperwork and send it in to the Board
Sept 2013 Certification by the National Commission on Certification of
Physician Assistants.
June 2012 ACLS and BLS certification current until June 2014.
June 2012 PALS certification current until June 2014.
