electronic countermeasure equipment, navigation aids, night vision devices
and test beds. Determine whether equipment may be economically repaired or
declared non-serviceable. Prepare equipment reports on items failing tests
repeatedly, specifying nature of fault and materials necessary for repairs.
I used test equipment, such as systems test sets, oscillators, ohmmeters,
voltmeters, spectrum analyzers and tesla coils. I localized trouble by
component unit, by circuit within a component and by element of a circuit.
Used hand power tools & shop test equipment common to mechanical and
electrical trades. Remove, disassemble, inspect, repair, calibrate
electronic sets, components & associated equipment such as radio sets,
signal generators, audio oscillators, recorders, speakers and amplifiers. I
replaced defective transformers, switches, relays, capacitors and circuits.
I inspected items for appearance, security of connections/wiring &
application of protective coating and decals. I made final operational test
and adjustments. Maintain record of equipment to be calibrated. I also
provided technical assistance on equipment operation & maintenance
procedures.
As a QA Collateral Duty Inspector, I inspected repaired electronic
countermeasure devices prior to installation on aircraft to insure
compliance with all publications and or technical manuals. This position
was a selected and numbered position, and only awarded after extensive
testing due to the nature of extremely high standards needed for aircraft
maintenance.
