Mr. Ketterl has over 20 years of engineering experience pertaining to the operations, maintenance, and
repair of steam boilers, gas turbines and Diesel Engines. He has proven detail-oriented experience
which has resulted in completion of high-priority maintenance jobs and compliance tasks ahead of fast-
paced schedules with a positive outcome. Mr. Ketterl’s present duties enable him to apply his technical
knowledge, expertise, experience, and organizational skills in a variety of physical locations and power
generation technologies.
Representative Experience
Senior Operations Analyst, NAES Corporation. For research and development of operating and
maintenance procedures, training curriculum and preventive maintenance plans. Responsible for using
technical knowledge and experience in engineering as well as specific plant and equipment design
information to prepare and assist in the completion of detailed operating instructions and systems
descriptions for electric generating power plants. Generate electrical flow diagrams in Microsoft Visio.
Interface with clients on multiple levels from Project Management, Corporate, and Plant Management
by telephone and email and also with several plant staff personnel.
Maintenance Manager, MIT (MA Institute of technology) CUP (Central Utility Plant). Responsible for
overseeing the maintenance and repair of the plant facilities and equipment. Manages the
implementation of the plant's Maintenance Program and identified items which needed improvement or
additional work. As Maintenance Manager I worked with the plant operating staff to assure plant
facilities and equipment were maintained in a safe and efficient operating condition at all times.
Primary Functions: Oversaw the activities of maintenance personnel in performing maintenance and
repair activities. Implement the plant's preventive and predictive maintenance program, including
equipment failure records, and provide trend information to the Plant Manager. Provided task lists and
schedules for plant maintenance and contractor personnel for normal operating periods, planned outage
periods, and forced outage situations. Maintained the plant's Maintenance Manuals and assured that the
vendor maintenance and repair manuals were properly filed and kept up-to-date. Manages the Building
& Grounds maintenance activities and improvements. Oversaw the issuance of purchase requisitions,
and purchase orders. Was responsible for following all procedures for Procurement and responsible for
monthly/annual inventory reporting according to plant administrative manuals. Along with sustaining
the morale and motivation of maintenance personnel and handling employee grievances as they arise.
Assisted with the location, screening and hiring of maintenance personnel. Completed other tasks as
requested by the Plant Manager
Chief Engineer, Horizon Lines, LLC, Oakland, California. Performed vessel plant operation,
maintenance, repair and overhaul on steam boilers, diesel engine, and gas turbines. Maintained all
regulatory requirements for certification, operation, overhauls and maintenance upgrades. Managed
annual budget of $1.7 million. Developed preventive maintenance schedules and procedures for
equipment including semi-annual overhaul. Trained personnel in all phases of power plant operations,
maintenance, repair and safety. Created and implemented workable and cost effective complete power
plant CMMS. Project managed shipyards, vender repairs and upgrades.

Operating Procedures (OP’s) - Conducts site walk-downs and staff interviews to capture the current
plant configuration, and then generates customized procedures that incorporate OEM recommendations
and best practices for all operating conditions including:
• Startup - plant startup by system
• Normal Operations - control and monitoring during normal operations
• Off-Normal Operations - alarm response and operations during off-normal operations
• Shutdown - plant outages and system shutdowns
• Emergency Operations - response guidelines for major equipment failure
Systems Descriptions (SD’s) - Generates customized system descriptions that support and clarify the
operating procedures.
Operational Diagrams (OD’s) - Have the capability to take complex piping and instrumentation
diagrams (P&ID’s) and electrical one-line diagrams and generate simplified operational diagrams
(OD’s) for everyday use in operating the facility.
