MOLYCORP RARE EARTH RECOVERY PROJECT
Developed the brine precipitation chemistry and reaction models to assist in the process
development. Designed major equipment. Served as an expert on the front end process.
OLEFIN TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT
The metathesis pathway for polymer grade propylene, 1-Butene & 1-Hexene is a very successful
new chemical technology. I made major contributions to the success of the project by developing
the reaction and thermodynamic models and implementing them in the process simulation.
Developed new process flow schemes, implemented process simulation tools for commercial
plants, energy efficiency and integration. More than 50 technical reports are written and issued.
This innovative process development resulted in many US patents.
HYDROCARBON RECOVERY IN CHEMICAL PROCESS
Participated in the development of an adsorption based separation of hydrocarbons during the
development new processes for Maleic anhydride (MA) and Acrylonitrile (AN). Contributed in
the process development, design and pilot plant operation at Mitsubishi Chemicals plant in Japan.
ENVIRONMENTAL RESEARCH
Spent caustic waste from refineries and naphtha cracking units contains high levels of sulfide,
mercaptans and phenols. Participated in the development of the spent caustic waste treatment
system and demonstrated in pilot scale. This process development is granted a US patent.
HYDROGENATION CATALYST DEVELOPMENT
Lead the laboratory development work of a precious metal, hydro-desulfurization catalyst.
Performed catalyst preparations, laboratory experiments, sample analysis and data presentations.
ACEDEMIC RESEARCH WORK
Conducted independent research in Fluid Mechanics, Separations and Solar Energy utilization in
academic institutions including Cornell University and University of California that resulted in
many publications in peer reviewed journals. These publications are heavily referenced indicating
their significance and contributions in the field of study.
