relations, using IBB, for a mill of 614 hourly USWA represented

employees. Supported employee relations for 254 salaried associates.

. Maintained low grievance rate of 16-22 grievances annually during

tenure as HR Manager.

10/02 to 7/05: MCWANE CAST IRON PIPE CO., Birmingham, AL, HR/Personnel

Manager:

. Responsible for all aspects of Human Resource management for this

heavy industry manufacturer.

. Full hiring/firing responsibilities; three direct reports; over 400

salaried and hourly workers requiring full administrative support in

areas such as benefits, compensation, and payroll.

. Reduced overall hourly turnover by 45%; revised and implemented

policies and procedures in the areas of attendance, security,

discipline, pay, and Worker's Compensation.

. Aided in reduction of OSHA recordable accident rate by 40% through

enforcement of disciplinary measures relating to safety issues.

. Reduced overall Worker's Comp spend by 25% through accident reductions

and by careful management of set asides for wages, medical, etc.

. Implemented performance review tracking system to reduce late reviews

and untimely merit increases. Also implemented vacation and absentee

tracking in order to reduce absenteeism and account for vacation days

for all employees.

. Responsible for advising management on interpretation and application

of a collective bargaining agreement between the company and the

6/96 to 10/02: AK STEEL CORP., Ashland, KY, Labor Relations Representative

and Production Supervisor:

. Fully responsible for interpretation and application of USWA and PACE

contract at AK Steel's Ashland Works plant.

. Conducted grievance investigations, second and third step grievance

meetings for coke plant and all departments of the main steel

manufacturing plant.

. Prepared grievances for arbitration; participated as a key member

during four labor contract negotiations; developed and implemented

strike plans; conducted disciplinary meetings; supervised the

company's "light duty" work program.

. Worked with Industrial Engineering department on manpower planning

resulting in 22% reduction in manning with cost savings estimated at

$1.5 million over 5 years.

. Established a "level loading" process for implementation of hourly

employee vacations that reduced overtime and saved approximately

$250,000 a year.

. Advised management on areas concerning the Americans with Disabilities

Act, Family and Medical Leave Act, Fair Labor Standards Acts, Equal
