Delivered efficient, timely and cost effective recycling services to

five campuses serving 36,000 students. Responsibilities

include but not limited to: assessment of waste streams to

quantify expected volume of targeted recyclable material,

impact on diversion goals and estimate collection costs;

planning, design, implementation and management of waste

reduction and recycling services; data capture, analysis,

and reporting for both internal constituents and regulatory

compliance; development of recycling services RFP's,

service agreement negotiation and administration; program

2012, trending to +40% in 2013;

. Converted source separated collection to dual stream

. Increased yard waste diversion by outsourcing leaf

. Expanded post-consumer food waste recovery for

composting from one to four locations;

. Instituted a pallet reuse program creating an internal

exchange, partnering with community pallet

collectors/recyclers, and engaging students to collect

surplus pallets;

. Recovered glass waste generated at the Tyler School of

Art for conversion into a blasting media;

. Partnered with a non-profit waste exchange in a pilot

demonstration project to remove surplus furniture and

other reusable goods for distribution to member

organizations culminating in the institutionalization

of the practice;

. Negotiated a no-bid agreement with a regional

paperboard mill to install and service cardboard

compactors at two food service locations at no cost

which annually generate over 125 tons of OCC;

. Transitioned disposal of bulk waste to recycling by

utilizing a construction and demolition debris

recycler resulting in diversion of +170 tons of

secondary materials from the waste stream in 2013;

. Coordinated RecycleMania collegiate waste minimization

and recycling competition starting in 2007 including

promotion, student engagement, operational support,

and data tracking and reporting;

. Developed metrics for an interrelated database using a

combination of scale weights, volume to weight

conversions, and material flow analyses to generate

monthly tracking reports;

. Developed recycling container and graphic standards;

. Planned, designed and implemented public space

recycling of commingled containers;

. Received multiple Waste Watcher awards from the

Professional Recyclers of Pennsylvania for recycling

program innovation and excellence.

Funded by an US EPA Jobs Through Recycling grant, the REDA promoted

expansion of Delaware recycling and reuse sectors under the

Green Industries Initiative to create quality jobs,

increase diversion of secondary recyclable materials from

Delaware's waste stream, and foster sustainable business

development.

. Provided portfolio of business services (site

selection, market research, business plan

development, financing, and regulatory permitting

assistance) to recycling enterprises across

collection, processing and manufacturing sub-sectors;

. Assisted Delaware manufacturing businesses to develop

and implement secondary material recovery programs to

reduce environmental impacts and affect competitive

advantages through increased environmental

performance;

. Recruited a diverse group of recycling enterprises to

Delaware including a plastics reclaimer, an

electronics and computer recycler, and a construction

and demolition debris recycler;

. Participated in due diligence review of a proposed 60

million dollar waste wood gasification energy

recovery plant;

. Revised and expanded the "Delaware Recyclers

Directory";

. Initiated a pilot project to recover old ceiling

tiles from state facilities for recycling by

Armstrong World Industries.

Fairfield Service Company, New Castle, DE

Compost Marketing Manager

Developed and implemented marketing programs to support the

sale/distribution of MSW co-compost generated at the

Delaware Reclamation Plant. Position was high profile

involving regular contact with government officials and

environmental regulators.

. Key member of team that reviewed and commented on

proposed sewage sludge product distribution and

marketing regulations;

. Coordinated product research and development

activities;

. Solicited and obtained funding for research at the

University of Delaware to investigate the fate of

compost borne nickel in soils and plants;

. Drafted and submitted a marketing permit application

to DNREC culminating in the issuance of the first

sewage sludge product distribution and marketing

permit;

compliance reports;

. Successfully launched FAIRGROW compost to the

Delaware green industry by offering dump truck loads

at no cost supported by instructional flyers and on-

site technical support.
