PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCES
"Gap year" in Europe (Spain, France, Germany and Hungary)
Enterprise Solution Architect, IBM UK Ltd, 2000-2012
Senior Consultant, IBM GBS, Australia, 1998-2000
Technical Director, Footprint Pty. Ltd., Australia, 1996-1998
Other positions: Consultant, Software Architect, Methodologist.
Enterprise Solution Architect
. Led the architectural and conceptual design of a mainframe-based
payment system that was capable of processing over 1,000,000 messages
per hour, using IBM technologies, and was ready to integrate it into
an existing banking infrastructure.
. Worked with a start-up IBM business partner in Belgium to design a
SEPA solution based on BPEL engine, with similar performance
characteristics on IBM pSeries systems. (After 3 years the partner
generated US$ 12 million revenues for IBM.)
. Worked very closely with an Italian software house on a wealth
management banking system for mass affluent clients. Consulted and re-
architected the original multi-channel enablement solution for multi-
platforms and high performance. Defined the integration and systems
management architecture for the system to be deployed as part of a
larger solution.
. Enterprise solution architect for a UK bank's implementation of the
Faster Payments System.
. Technical and lead architect for a number of enterprise integration
proposals and projects.
. Worked with packaged financial software vendors on enterprise level
integration across their product lines.
. In Israel led a call centre project up to the phase II delivery cycles
of an agile development, and mentored the local development team both
in a framework and in agile method. The call centre used intelligent
call routing and provided full service to the bank's customer. The up-
sell cross-sell capability increased the revenue by 12%.
. Led the software design of F/A-18 avionics maintenance facility for
the RAAF (Royal Australian Air Force). It was a hard real-time,
distributed system for software maintenance and test of the full set
of on-board, embedded computers. Managed and established the internal
system to achieve QA accreditation and certification.
Senior Consultant
. Consulted an international bank on the implementation and management
of a private cloud
. Consulted a Spanish bank at CIO and CTO level on incremental
renovation of their payments systems to achieve significant savings by
reducing the number of overlapping systems.
. Worked on the IBM Financial Services Reference Architecture and the
Insurance Industry Architecture at conceptual level and physical
implementation level.
. In Eastern Europe consulted local banks on implementing risk analysis
systems and optimizing compliance management and reporting.
. In Hong Kong redesigned and rationalized an international bank's
mortgage origination system for multi-channel and multi-country.
. Participated in the development of an OO methodology, and then used it
in projects.
. In Australia designed a mathematical optimization solution for a steel
foundry to increase sales yields of alloyed ingots. The result was a
7% revenue increase.
Technical Director
. Responsible for "Single View of the Customer" proposal and project for
an international telecommunication company.
. Designed and implemented a consolidated banking call centre recovery
site.
. Responsible for specification, design and overview of the
implementation of a distributed software engineering environment
supporting the full life cycle of development.
Technology Skills
. Domain knowledge of banking and financial markets and some areas of
public sector
. Multi-tier systems, distributed, hard real-time systems with
performance engineering
. Business integration technologies and architectural modelling (UML,
J2EE, SOA, Cloud)
. Process consultation, modelling and design
. Component-based enterprise modelling and service-oriented architecture
design
. Formal techniques and methods for systems specification and
development
