Pastor

Social work and the pastorate are very similar. In social work you help people live life at a fuller level. Pastorate is the same you teach people to live life fuller. My duty is to watch care over the members of the church. To fulfill my duty I have developed and implemented objectives, I am the primary administrator, work with various boards, counsel, teach adults and youths, mentor, and manage a budget. My time is my own meaning that I work independently. I have worked various government agencies in the area. I have a good rapport with the local courts, homeless shelter, home for abused women, family jobs and services and two drug treatment centers. During the past twenty years I have made thousands of referrals to various agencies and work to help them.

Houseparent

My opportunity to work at the Lake County Boys Group Home allowed me to parent juvenile teens for two years. The court deemed it necessary to remove them from their home for various reasons.

Duties: I interview each potential candidate before placement. Once candidate was approved; a meeting with court officials was held to develop goals for each resident. Then I wrote case plans according to federal, state, and local regulations. During this time the working relationship with the courts was excellent. Each case plan required either for the reunification with the legal guardian or acquire skills to prepare for independent living. I counseled with parents and residents to helping the reunification process. Independent living requires life skills. I taught these young men; how to money management, how to fill out a job application, how to interview for a job, how to make a grocery list, how to cook, time management, how to open a bank account, and personal hygiene. This job required a high level of time management of my own, there were a myriad of things to accomplish each day; meeting with court and school officials, local agencies, meals, summer jobs to acquire and transportation to job sites, doctor appointment and dentist appointments.
