SELECTED PROJECTS
Modeling of Waiting Time at Pre-Board Screening Checkpoints at Canadian Airports
Developed a queueing model at the behest of Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA)
Performed data input, manipulation and analysis of millions of observations from various sources
(csv/xlsx/sas) and this includes raw data of individual pre-board screening information from the top
eight largest airports in Canada since 2011
Deduced relationships amongst variables with visualization tools, established regression models to
predict flexible service rates of pre-board screening, and validated assumptions and final model
Created project specific SAS macros to do model inference and to produce automatic report with proc
sql and bulk report (ods setting), which enabled the analysis of different scenarios simply by tweaking
small number of parameters
Implemented the conceptual model on a SAS platform using M/M/c (vacation) models, which enable
CASTA to predict number of servers required to achieve a prescribed Quality of Service level
Toolkits: SAS (Macro, SQL), Matlab, R
Fast2eat Scheduling Algorithm for Food Court Online Order
Modeled and designed a scheduling system at the behest of Foodicus Inc.
Consulted with stakeholders of Foodicus.Inc. and Food Court managers to fully understand the food
preparation and delivery procedure and modeled the whole process utilizing dynamical scheduling
Designed database structure and simulated online order data with MS Excel VBA (macro)
Developed a food preparation scheduling algorithm for online order service and conducted
performance evaluation of the system with various simulation scenarios in Matlab
Authored the final report and reference manual
Toolkits: MS Excel VBA, Matlab
Confounding Analysis of WAVE Project
Conducted confounding analysis with R to asses the robustness of a predictive model by using data
sets queried from MS Access
Collaborated with colleges on the WAVE project using respiration rate and heart rate variation data to
predict whether a patient will fail in the intubation
Toolkits: R
Data Mining for Insurance Company Dataset
Characterized potential customers using visualization technique, statistical hypothesis test and
unsupervised learning methods clustering, associating rules, ggobi, goodness tests, etc
Assembled classification algorithms to predict potential customers by utilizing various models
including random forests, decision trees, boost trees, addictive logistic regression, and SVM
Toolkits: R
Empirical Analysis of the Efficiency of ST/ SP Regulations in Chinese Stock Market
Utilized Excel VBA macros to automatically pair listed companies according to selected indexes and
rules; thus tackled the imbalanced logistic regression problem and increased the accuracy of financial
failure prediction algorithm
Performed consistency check with database software on financial and industrial data collected from
CSMAR/Wind/Statistics of China, and successfully distinguished data conflicts and incomplete cases
in Wind and CSMAR
Received Second Prize for Excellent Undergraduate Essay, TJUFE (2010)
Toolkits: MS Excel VBA, SAS, MS Access
