Senior Project Engineer

• Responsible for estimating, engineering, report writing, and field investigation relating to HVAC

commissioning and air barrier systems for Federal projects throughout the US. Perform

mechanical engineering design plan and specification constructability reviews for private and

public sector.

• Write HVAC Commissioning plans, submit Cx plans to A/E designer of record for approval,

perform HVAC design review and comment per Cx requirements, visit project site, attend monthly

LEED/Cx teleconference meetings, review contractor completed Pre-Functional Test Checklists,

Energy Management Engineer, Facilities Operations

• Responsible for the promotion and implementation of energy conservation programs for the

university community. Responsible for documenting and reporting on energy consumption trends.

• Implement energy management programs on campus through building design guidelines, policy

initiatives, and interfacing with faculty, staff, and students on campus. Work with State Energy

Office and other state agencies to facilitate campus awareness and energy conservation.

• Create university strategic energy plan, update yearly data compared to baseline, and obtain

approval from Director of Facilities Operations and AVC for Facilities. Responsible for sending

updated yearly strategic energy plan to NC State Energy Office. Responsible for working with

internal Facilities Operations IT personnel to get strategic energy plan posted to campus website

and updated yearly.

• Primary contact for university for the implementation of the UNC Systems first performance

contract. Worked with the NC State Energy Office, attended seminars, prepared original project

scope, prepared RFP, issued RFP, coordinated RFP onsite meeting to discuss project with

ESCO's. Responsible for escorting ESCO's throughout campus and assisting ESCO's with

existing building plan review, responsible for Q & A response in written form, responsible for

assembling university team to review and evaluate project proposals, responsible for preparing

meeting notes and distributing to team including template documents from SEO, responsible for

distributing all ESCO documentation to team upon receiving proposals, responsible for staying on

schedule throughout review process. Upon ESCO selection, responsible for assisting selected

ESCO with needs to perform onsite energy audit including obtaining necessary maintenance staff

assistance as needed.

• Upon completion of project construction, assist Cx team to commission project and systems

installed.

• Responsible for working with a selected third party Measurement and Verification consultant to

obtain independent review of yearly project energy analysis. Responsible for obtaining building

schedules weekly and update HVAC operating hours per weekly hours of operation and ESCO

project scope of work.

• Responsible for preparing a campus energy consumption spreadsheet and update monthly and

yearly for comparison both wholly and by building.

• Only person outside of HVAC techs that had access to campus Tridium HVAC controls system.

• Only person with access to a Tridium Energy Management System that started obtaining, storing,

and displaying electric meter data, domestic water data, steam and condensate data, and chilled

water data for approximately 15 buildings with goal of all campus buildings getting totally metered

into system.

• Facilities Operations main contact person to interact with Duke Energy and Piedmont Natural Gas

on utility issues.

• Prepared monthly reports and paperwork for campus steam plant to meet air permit requirement

through NCDENR. Worked with steam plant supervisor and local DENR rep to document proper

information for records. Responsible for working with NCDENR to renew steam plant air permit.

Work with maintenance personnel to obtain campus generator run times and fuel consumption to

incorporate into monthly permit emissions spreadsheet.

• Responsible for assembling a team to work with a consultant for obtaining data and preparing the

first campus carbon footprint and report prior to arrival of sustainability manager. Thereafter, work

with new sustainability manager to obtain necessary data to move from carbon footprint to create

a carbon plan.

• Perform Project Management duties on minor HVAC projects such as replacing or repairing

underground steam or condensate piping that was leaking. Perform PM duties on replacement of

an individual building HVAC chiller and place on campus chill water plant.

YORK INTERNATIONAL October 2000 to October 2001

Service Sales Representative

• Responsible for selling YORK products, services, and service maintenance contracts, developing

and maintaining good customer relations, estimating and preparing technical proposals.

• Travel within central North Carolina region to existing customer base and also visit potential new

customers. Find out specific information relating to customer needs and existing equipment, then

assist customer with products and/or services to meet those needs.

• Attend 3 week service sales class in York, PA, at plant and factory to learn engineering details of

equipment.

expired.

designers to obtain approval, then revise accordingly, order materials, both JCI factory equipment

and third party equipment, write subcontract to electrical wiring contractor, attend monthly

construction meetings to keep pace with schedule, schedule pneumatic pipe fitters as needed,

schedule field technician for final system checkout, then attend final walk-through with owners

agent. Responsible for preparing AIA billings and payment of subcontractors. Follow project into

warranty for warranty service calls and then attend 10-12 month warranty meeting. Then closeout

project and turn over to service department.
