OBJECTIVE Mechanical Engineer

EDUCATION Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), Worcester, MA, May 2013

Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering, GPA: 3.7/4.00

Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (NUAA), Nanjing, China, May 2011

Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering, GPA: 84/100

SKILLS SolidWorks, Inventor, Auto CAD, Minitab, Lab mechanical & electrical tools, Outlook, Word, Excel, PPT

PROJECT Master Thesis Project, WPI, May 2012-Jun 2013

Used CAD Solidworks to design a compact, reconfigurable MRI-guided needle driver, using modular

design approach to support various needle-based interventions. Accurately located device position

by attaching a cylindrical helix image coordinate registration fiducial frame to the needle end.

Assemble all the 3D printed mechanical components and evaluated this mechanical system with

several bench top tests. Designed and evaluated an optic sensing system to detect robot position

and joint limits. Published a conference paper in DMD and a master thesis report.

Lab Project, AIM Lab, WPI, Oct 2012

Used CAD Solidworks to design a teleoperation system with force feedback utilizing pneumatic

actuation. Design pneumatic cylinder and test platform for connecting pneumatic cylinder and

teleoperation master. The pneumatic actuation will give feedback force to teleoperation master

using this platform.

EXPERIENCE Design Engineer, BD Medical, Canaan, CT, Nov 2013 – Present

Developed methods to measure new molded medical products. Designed fixtures for use in a

Micro Vu coordinate measuring machine using Solidworks/Inventor. Programmed of a Micro

Vu machine and performed Gage/Correlation studies to confirm reproducibility and

repeatability. Designed mechanical machine components for production line using Solidworks.

Research Assistant, Automation & Interventional Medicine Lab, WPI, May 2012 – Jun 2013

Worked on electromechanical MRI-guided surgical robotic system to assist surgeons performing

operations on patients with prostate cancer. Designed and assembled MRI-compatible needle

driver prototype for percutaneous interventions. Designed and improved a close-loop drive system

for Shinsei ultrasonic motor. Evaluated this electromechanical robotic system with several bench

top tests. This project is collaborated with Johns Hopkins University and Harvard University.
