PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Mechanical Engineering Intern, Good Ol' Original Design, Inc. (GOOD
Inc.), Florida Oct 2013 - Present
. Performing Product design, development and testing of a 'Smart
Electronic Pet Feeder'.
. Conceptualized and designed the hinge and latch mechanism for
opening/closing the lid.
. Modeling the mounts, hinges and various other parts using Solid
works 2013, and fabricating the same using 3D Printing technology.
. Preparing Bills of Material (BOM) and employing the principles of
Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) so as to facilitate
the overall product development process.
Grader, Computer Aided Graphics and Design (SolidWorks 2012)
Aug 2012 - Dec 2012
. Graded the Exams, assignments and projects of a batch of 60
undergraduate students for the course 'Computer Aided Graphics and
Design' (including GD&T) at the University of Florida.
Product Executive (Aviation Department), Ramco Systems Limited,
Chennai, India July 2010 - May 2011
. Worked in a team(maintenance) of 6 members.
. Analyzed and documented the requirements for system functionality
by understanding the processes and specifications of Aviation
related customers.
. Made presentations and communicated the requirements to the
programmers.
. Documented test cases and performed testing. Provided cross
functional support during testing of processes like Engineering
Change mgt.(ex: creating/editing Engineering Change Orders(ECOs)).
. Logged defects (found during testing) in a defect tracking system
(DTS).
TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE
Graduate Research Experience, University of Florida
Apr 2012 - Aug 2013
. Research Topic: Contact Modeling using Implicit Boundary Finite
Element Method(IBFEM)
. Implemented the code in JAVA to determine contact forces and
contact width between contacting bodies
. Formulated a function to determine the contacting elements of the
mesh using the Contact Criteria.
. Debugged, tested and validated the method using standard contact
examples.
Product Development and process design of a Sprinkler
Aug 2012 - Dec 2012
. Concept generation, concept selection, Product and process design
were done
. Designed the 3D Computer Aided Design (CAD) model of a Sprinkler
in Solid Works 2012.
. Worked in a team of 4 members
. Developed significant skills in Team work, leadership, time
management, and project planning.
Simulation of Deep drawing Process using Abaqus
Aug 2012 - Dec 2012
. The Process involved (1) Applying binder force to the blank
holder, (2) Moving down the punch to a maximum stroke of 70 mm,
(3) Removing the punch, blank holder and die for Spring back
. The deformed shape plots at maximum punch stroke and after Spring
back have been shown using 3D solid elements and shell elements.
The Contour plots of effective Plastic strain have also been shown
Non Linear Finite Element Analysis of Engine Gasket using Abaqus
Aug 2012 - Dec 2012
. Determined the hyper elastic material properties using the given
test results. Mooney-Rivlin, 2nd order polynomial and Ogden models
were used to find the material properties that fit the test curves
. Performed nonlinear finite element analysis for the
initial geometry of the gasket. Also modified the shape of the
gasket such that the gap is reduced and the contact pressure is as
uniform as possible
AWARDS & ACHIEVEMENTS
. Achievement Award given by the University of Florida, owing to
exemplary credentials in UG degree program.
. University Rank Holder - 21st Rank(among 776 students), Anna
University, April 2010
. Mathematics - Rank holder, 2007
