In Hamad General Hospital, I have appointed as senior specialist and work in a capacity, and position of consultant.

I’m covering full pediatric nephrology service independently with other 4 pediatric nephrology consultants in rotational

service. We are sharing inpatient & out-patient care, on-call service, care of hemodialysis & peritoneal dialysis

children (separate clinic), perinatal nephrology and critical care nephrology. I also run two evening pediatric

nephrology clinics. Transplantation full service is not established yet but, we are preparing for first pediatric

transplantation in Qatar by Nov. 2012. Moreover, we are following some children post-transplantation done outside

Qatar. Nephrology Division meeting is held once weekly for educational and administrative issues. I’m responsible for

setting the guidelines and their updates, running t he peritoneal dialysis clinic and sharing in educational activities,

also I'm assigned for Educational committee in the pediatric nephrology division. I'm sharing fully in the educational

activity of general pediatrics department as well. Hamad General Hospital is one of five hospitals managed by

Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), the only health care corporation in the state. It extends a highly specialized care

to all the people of Qatar through state -of-art full facilities. It has a total of 621 beds fo r inpatient care, a large

outpatient department providing 65 specialty clinics, an Accident and Emergency Department, five intensive care

units, eight operating theaters, and a pharmacy.

June 2012, I have appointed as clinical pediatric instructor in the affiliated Weill Cornell medical college in Qatar.

This is a volunteer extra duty. My principal responsibility is pre -clinical and clinical education, instruction and

assessment of undergraduate medical students in pediatrics. W CMC-Q is established academic operations in 2002

as a historic partnership between Qatar Foundation and Cornell University. It offers a unique, six-year American

curriculum, which includes premedical and medical education, leading to the same M. D. awarded to graduates

of Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City.

Master degree in pediatrics has awarded during this training period - Exams and Thesis (Nov. 1993)

This was included full general pediatric services; OPD, A&E dept. inpatient care, NICU and Critical care

pediatrics. Specialty clinics in nephrology, immunology and poliomyelitis were involved during rotation as well.

Beside full general pediatric services including emergency, neonatal and critical care, I also joined a w ell

organized training program in Pediatric nephrology, certified from the University . Training included rotation

between all pediatric nephrology services as Peritoneal d ialysis (Acute & CAPD only), Hemodialysis, critical

care nephrology, perinatal nephrology, beside the outpatient clinic and inpatient pediatric nephrology children

care. Follow up of few transplanted children from outside but transplantation program was no t established

during the training. Training in all pediatric nephrology procedures has been done frequently through this

training program. Examples are; acute peritoneal access, temporary vascular access as femoral, subclavian

and internal Jugular VasCath. Neonatal dialysis and plasmapheresis were also our frequent work. Dealing

with different chronic vascular access, hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis complications has been faced

frequently. Master Degree in Pediatrics "MSc" with thesis and Exams has been awarded during this period

with thesis related to pediatric nephrology training. The main deficient training were in Transplantation,

Automated Peritoneal dialysis and CRRT where was not well established in pediatrics at that time. Training in

the deficient programmers were completed later during future work but not an official training.

Joined as pediatric nephrology resident then promoted to specialist after 2 years. In the last two years

I promoted again to work as acting consultant.

My duty was to cover all pediatric children "less than 14 years" with renal problems in the adult serving unit

"Jeddah Kidney Center". Patients on dialysis (hemodialysis & peritoneal dialysis), I joined a well organized

and established renal transplantation team with full responsibility of pediatric renal transplantation. This was

including pre/post transplantation preparation and care in children and immediate critical care post-

transplantation We transplanted 7-12 children annually. I published a paper in pediatric renal transplantation

with my colleagues during my research work in transplantation "see details later" . Beside transplantation, I

was responsible for children with any nephrologic disease as outpatient, in -patients & pediatric patients in

ICU. In addition to good experience in plasmapharesis, Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy, DALI

(Hemadsorption) system for lipid removal, hemoperfusion and I practiced frequently most of pediatric

nephrology procedures during my work.

I established a full pediatric nephrology service in an a dult hospital (Jeddah kidney center). This

included a separate pediatric hemodialysis unit as a section in adult unit with 17 chronic hemodialysis

children (Project I submitted, approved by HOD and settled within few weeks with supportive team).

Back to work again in my home country; Egypt. I worked as specialist position. The main resp onsibility was

clinical and educational services. I covered all nephrology and dialysis pediatric patient, through huge

pediatric hemodialysis unit "52" children with ESRD, peritoneal dialysis was limited to few children. Again an

organized program of pediatric renal transplantation was not established yet. I also responsible for ca re of

children with renal diseases in outpatient clinic and emergency cases beside the in-patient and PICU

pediatric management. I frequently performed independently most of pediatric nephrology procedures except

renal biopsy. I also trained on bedside renal ultrasound. Education and teaching of different formats were our

regular practice as we are working in university hospital. I shared in few researches with my colleagues in a

team work but I didn't published any during that time . I got a lot of experience in research statistics and

methodology but not publication.

As a subspecialty consultant, independently cover full pediatric nephrology service; including all dialysis

modalities, Transplantation and Critical care & Perinatal nephrology. General pediatric full service is covered

as well, Consultant in one of two teams’ in general pediatric ward. On call duty, works in rotation with other

consultant pediatricians; general and subspecialty. Pediatric nephrology clinics are served weekly. During this

short period I have involved as an Examiner in Saudi Board Exam with two external Examiners and other

internal Examiners in clinical Exam. I also shared in Question banks for Theoretical part of the Exam by over

than 100 questions. More than 20 teaching session have been held with the juniors in pediatric nephrology

and for Board and MRCPCH Exams both clinical and theoretical parts. During the probation period I scored

93.5% grade Excellent. Unfortunately, I resigned from this excellent work atmosphere be cause of

unsatisfactory high school level of my children moving to Qatar. One research work has started but not

completed due to early move. North Western Armed Forces Hospital has 400 beds capacity. It is considered

as tertiary type of hospital and has all major specialties and subspecialties. Pediatric department is composed

of Pediatric ward 50 beds, PICU 8 beds, NICU 50 beds, Pediatric ER and outpatient clinic covering general

pediatrics beside all pediatric subspecialties. Pediatric Arab and Saudi boar d training program has been

RESEARCHS:

1- Duplex Doppler assessment of renal arteries in children with end -stage renal failure. The study

includes 23 pediatric patients on regular hemodialysis compared to 10 healthy children regarding flow in renal

arteries evaluated by Doppler Ultrasound. The study showed the expert practice of Doppler indices of renal

vessels assessment. This study was published in Local Egyptian Journal of Pediatrics (1993)

2- Experience of Jeddah Kidney Center in pediatric renal transplantation. Published in Transplantation

proceedings journal 30, 1-000 (1998). It is a retrospective study included 44 transplanted (cadaveric & living

donor) children followed in one center to evaluate short term morbidity & mortality. Access it thought Medline:

exchange and Transplantation. Very good experience in pediatric renal ultrasonography, central venous
