Hands on Network Engineering Manager and a Network Engineer with expertise in Cisco network

improvement. I currently hold Cisco CCNA and ITIL v3 certifications. I’m currently pursuing Cisco

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

2012 – Present – Richards Kibbe Orbe LLP, New York, NY

Network Engineering Manager/Senior Network Engineer

• Supervise day-to-day operations for the firms Network Engineering team.

• Re-architected a combined static route/EIGRP implementation with a solid, multi-area OSPF

design. Implemented BFD for sub-second WAN failover on a dual-provider, VPLS network with

diverse paths while driving down operational costs by 40k annually.

• Fully redesigned the entire L2 topology while protecting the spanning-tree topology

implementing BPDU Guard, Root Guard, UDLD, HSRP, Port Channels and DHCP Snooping.

• Reconfigured Cisco 4510 core switches and deployed several Cisco 3750 stacks during a

hardware refresh.

• Implemented a BGP/multi-homed, dual ISP solution along with security features such as TCP-

Intercept, Cisco TACACS server and extensive access lists to prevent spoofing, DOS attacks and

hacking attempts on Cisco 2920 routers. Route-maps, as path access-list’s and IP prefix list

implementation.

• Reconfigured and maintain several pairs of Cisco ASA 5510 firewalls.

• Implemented Solarwinds SNMP monitoring, flexible Netflow, Syslog and application monitoring.

Automated bi-monthly configuration backups to a FreeBSD server.

• Developed and initiated Change Management strategy, peer review process and Incident and

Problem management policies that ensure standardized methods and procedures are used for all

changes. Review and approve submitted changes affecting offices firm wide and lead Change

2009 – 2012 – Wilson Elser LLP, New York, NY

Network Operations Supervisor/Senior Network Engineer

• Architected and implemented the migration to fully redundant OSPF, VPLS WAN and multi-

homed Internet infrastructure. Designed a stable, secure Spanning-Tree, HSRP and Etherchannel

configurations in the LAN and WAN infrastructure. Configured and maintain Cisco Nexus 7000,

and Nexus 5000 switches along with Catalyst 6500, 4500 and 3750 Layer 3 switches.

Configuration of IP SLA, SNMP and Syslog management tools.

• Configured and maintain Cisco ASA 5520 firewalls. Wrote configuration for access lists, NAT

statements for outside video conferencing, Voice VPN failover and manage office-by-office

migration from old to new ISP’s. Implemented Cisco TACACS for network device, wireless and

VPN access.

location facility. Directed Virtual and physical server builds, data migration and developed design

• Performed post-mortems of network incidents, coordinated with multiple groups to resolve open

engineers.

2003 – 2009 - KIRKLAND & ELLIS LLP, New York, NY

Network Coordinator/Senior Network Engineer

• Maintained and expanded Cisco LAN infrastructure with virtually no downtime, resulting in an

increase in overall employee productivity and improved communication. Directed all elements of

design and transition including: IDF enhancement, assessing power requirements, LAN switch

installation and design of fiber optic and copper cable infrastructure.

• Directed key elements of new Data Center construction and migration. Oversaw the evaluation of

current and future space, power and cooling capacity, network capacity and future expansion.

Coordinated efforts with cross-office teams for timely migration of Windows 2003 based servers,

printer and data migration. Utilized several approaches to contain enhancement costs. Identified

and eliminated significant risks to the Data Center design and critical systems.

• Directed the implementation of a Cisco network infrastructure upgrade for VOIP readiness. Tasks

included IOS and line card upgrades, IP subnet design, voice VLAN creation, DHCP scopes,

QOS policies, HSRP modification, port-channel modification and IDF build-outs using Cisco

6500, 4500 and 3560 series switches.

• Directed Data Center crisis management with precision in response to networking and

environmental system outages. Proactively developed shutdown, startup and validation processes

for server, storage, network and environmental systems during annual building power shutdowns

ensuring all systems and data were available and within an allotted time frame.

• Initiated Green improvements with significant cost savings by reducing backup UPS costs for the

Cisco infrastructure by $1M in equipment and power usage while simultaneously leveraging

existing data center technology. Facilitated the conversion of printing legal documents from

single to double-sided printing saving 1,000 reams of paper per month.

•Provided 24-7 support for case and trial teams, data access, client extranet access and network

related issues. Act as team lead for attorney home network, wireless and Internet setup and

support. Provide second level user support for 750 people within the New York office.

1998 – 2002 - DEWEY BALLANTINE LLP, New York, NY

Senior Network Engineer

Obtained Microsoft MCSE certification. Redesigned firm’s Windows NT Domain including:

server replacement, redeployment of domain controllers to remote offices and Windows 2000

deployment. Microsoft Windows DNS, WINS and DHCP implementation and IP subnet design.

Group policy design, custom policy template and custom Registry modifications.

Drove continuous improvements within the company by successfully designing a Citrix remote

access solution while maintaining the same desktop and application functionality (remotely and

in-office). Technical lead for global support for remote access. Constructed design for future

server centric application access through a corporate Intranet and Citrix.

Designed and implemented a new LAN infrastructure for 4 offices from a FDDI/Ethernet

environment for the New York Data Center. Led network integration through installation, testing
