. Research into controlling the intensity of LEDs using "Pulse

Width Modulation".

. Developed and designed the circuit board as well as testing the

operation of the circuit.

. Case-Study involving calculating the load and electricity cost

of the current lighting setting within CIT using Dialux

software; and a proposal to replace the current lighting with

LED lighting for long-term savings.

. A presentation was made to lecturers, colleagues and interested

parties followed by questions on the key issues. Result: 2H2

Third Year Project:

. Project undertaken into the design and building of 12V sealed

lead acid battery charger using a solar panel. Developed and

designed the circuit to suit any conditions and various

measurements and testing was conducted under the supervision of

a chosen lecturer. Result: 2H1

Second Year Project:

. This project was an introduction into electrical services

installation. Using AutoCAD, made plan and elevation drawings of

the proposed project building. Using Hevacomp software, designed

a general and emergency lighting system for the building.

Designed a suitable fire alarm system for the building. Designed

the Low Voltage (LV) distribution system for the building.

Designed to include distribution transformer where appropriate.

Selected and specified the tariff structure and metering

requirements for the building. Calculated the power factor

correction required for the installation. Calculated the cable

sizes and quantities for the installation. Using Excel prepared

a full bill of quantities. Result: 1H

. Selecting specific Luminaire fittings under strict guidelines

and specifications.

. All lighting calculations completed, modelled and simulated on

DiaLUX software using AutoCAD floor plans.

. Both lux level and lighting power density (W/m2) were calculated

and recorded.

. Lighting schedules were compiled on Excel and compliance reports

(going by BCA 2010 regulations) were concluded, from the results

of the calculations.
