Experience

Graduate Student at University of Texas at Dallas

August 2013 - Present (4 months)

Acquired hands-on experience with laboratory tools and equipment like the Vector Network Analyzer,

Spectrum Analyzer, Power Meter, Signal generator to conduct RF measurements. All the circuits were

designed and simulated in AWR MWO and AXIEM environment, Each design was milled on a

substrate(specified board size) and then tested for compliance with the design goals.

Designed, simulated and tested several RF and Microwave components such as:

- Resonators; Series and parallel - Resonant at 4 GHz - milled on FR-4

- 3 dB Wilkinson power divider - 3 GHz - milled on Rogers 5880 Duroid

- Directional couplers:

--- Quadrature Branch-line coupler - 3 dB - milled on FR-4

--- Edge coupled directional coupler - 15 dB - milled on Rogers 5880 Duroid

- Microstrip Low pass filters:

--- Chebyshev filter - 0.5 dB ripple - 3 GHz cutoff - milled on FR-4

--- Butterworth filter - Stepped impedance design - 3 GHz cutoff - milled on FR-4

- Microwave Amplifier - 1 - 2 GHz -13 dB linear gain - P1 = 18 dBm - milled on FR-4

- Mixer characterization using spectrum analyzer.

Narrowband Amplifier

November 2012 to Present

Members:Deepak Pai Hosadurga, Gautham Prasanna, Pramitha Nagaraj

Designed and analysed the performance characteristics of a narrow band amplifier. Realised amplifier circuit

in AWR- Microwave Office environment, performed AC-DC analysis, impedance matching, gain - return

loss calculations, stability analysis and observed gain-noise figure trade-offs to achieve a gain of 11 dB,

bandwidth of 200 MHz and return-loss better than 10 dB was achieved.

Broadband Amplifier for an Optical Receiver

October 2012 to Present

Members:Deepak Pai Hosadurga, Gautham Prasanna, Pramitha Nagaraj

Designed a two-stage broadband amplifier to attain a specific trans-impedance gain - Implemented circuit

design, performed S-parameter analysis, AC-DC analysis, stability analysis in AWR Microwave Office to

achieve operating trans-impedance gain of 50 dB and a bandwidth of 600 MHz.

Numerical solution to Laplace's Equation

August 2012 to Present

Members:Deepak Pai Hosadurga, Madhumita Mohan, Anoop Siddesh

Derived a numerical solution for the Laplace equation for the fields within an electronic MOSFET,

Implemented MATLAB code - calculated the variation of electromagnetic potential distribution, magnitude

of electric field within the channel for different channel widths and biasing voltages.

Physical Layer Simulation of an OFDM System

April 2013 to Present

Members:Deepak Pai Hosadurga, Anoop Siddesh

Implemented modulation and demodulation techniques for simplified version of LTE OFDM – Simulation of

AWGN channel, Multipath channel, calculation of BER for given channel data, execution of QPSK, 16 QAM

and adaptive modulation techniques. The simulations were carried out in MATLAB.

Landslide Detection RADAR Mechanism

April 2013 to Present

Members:Deepak Pai Hosadurga, Sandeep Gangadharaiah, Gautham Prasanna, Anoop Siddesh

Designed and analysed an RF system that comprises of Transmit-Receive blocks. The system involves

RADAR to track debris movement and a MEO satellite communication system to send out warnings to the

authorities in an occasion a landslide should occur. Simulations, Link Budget Analysis, Cascaded gain, P1

dB, IP3 and Noise figure calculations are carried out in AWR-Visual System Simulator.

Design of RF and Microwave circuits

October 2012 to Present

Members:Deepak Pai Hosadurga

Designed and simulated microwave components like microwave amplifiers, microwave filters, couplers,

power dividers and phase shifters. Implemented cascade of variable gain microwave amplifier, attenuator and

a phase shifter in AWR-Microwave Office for the purpose of emulating a receive path of a T/R module to

achieve optimum gain and Noise figure.

Wireless Sensor Nodes - Protocol Implementation

March 2013 to Present

Members:Deepak Pai Hosadurga, Divin Honnappa, Kishore Ganeshbabu, Prarthana Anand

A technical exercise in realizing and simulating protocols SMAC, LEACH and RT2 of the data-link, network

and the transport layers that are viable for Sensor Networks and are focused on reducing overall power
