I am writing to apply for a full-time position as a Quality Engineer. I am a senior at Ferris State University graduating in May 2014. I am very interested in this position as the Quality Engineer that has presented itself. Trained in both mechanical engineering as well as quality engineering, I welcome the opportunity to bring my unique set of skills and knowledge to this position.

My attached resume indicates my development of engineering skills through internships, academic projects, and course material. During my quality engineering internship at Haworth, I developed knowledge and skills in the quality segment of manufacturing. I also gained experience in the administrative, communication, research, and technical portion of a corporation. At Haworth, I developed skills with process capability studies and standards work instructions by implementing a monthly capability analysis process for the plant. I read and adhered to the ISO-9001 quality standard (required) as well as the TS-16949 quality standard. Continuous improvement, problem-solving, and error prevention were used during gage calibration checks, gage R&R, SPC, production gaging and design of a wood finish search and database for inspection purposes. During my internship at a distribution center for SalonCentric, I received professional SAP training and received a crucial role in an SAP “Go-Live.”

During my time at the two internships as well as my previous job at Wisner Enterprises, I developed leadership, communication, and technical skills. I developed leadership qualities at a young age as a manager at Wisner Enterprises. During my internship at SalonCentric, leadership and communication skills were required as I led new projects with the help of the floor members and management. Communication skills were very important at Haworth. The corporation environment as well as lean manufacturing self-implemented the heavy use of meetings. I gained experience in production meetings as well as corporate meetings and events.
