Areas of Concentration / Coursework
. Advanced Mechanical Engineering Design . Advanced Finite Element
Analysis
. Fracture of Solids . Mechanics of Vibrations
KEY ACHIEVEMENT:
(Increased the moment load of an (RBF) Rotating Bending Fatigue machine by
50%.
Education & Select Academic Projects
Master of Science, Mechanical Engineering, Emphasis on Mechanical Design,
Bradley University, Peoria, IL 2013
o GPA 3.7/4 ; Graduate Assistantship;
Bachelor of Science, Mechanical Engineering, University of Khartoum, Sudan
2010
Projects:
Vibration Reduction for a washing machine:
o Identified a washing machine, calculated the vibration frequency, and
selected a tuned mass damper to eliminate the vibration.
o Wrote a program on MATLAB to select the appropriate tuned mass damper
(TMD) for various washing machines.
o Reduced the maximum amplitude factor by 67%.
A new technique to calculate Stress Intensity Factor.
o The research investigated the validity of the new method by applying
it to three different types of notches.
o The results were in +/- 10% of accuracy, compared to the conventional
methods.
o Performed the calculations using Microsoft Excel.
Gearbox Design, Auger Drilling Machine:
o Performed a complete 2D drawing for the gear train shafts, gears, and
detailed components including the gearbox cover using AUTOCAD.
o Calculated shafts, bearings, keys, and gearbox sizing according to the
Machinery's Handbook, and applied a complete failure analysis based on
the stresses calculations, using Microsoft Excel.
Professional Experience
Bradley University, Peoria, IL
Materials Testing and Modeling Laboratory (1/2012-5/2013)
o Performed uniaxial High Cycle Fatigue (HCF) tests on 300+ specimens
for Caterpillar as a client.
o Maintained Hydraulic Service Manifolds, Pumps, and Actuators; aligned
machines.
o Performed high temperature fatigue tests using Rotating Bending
Fatigue machine (RBF).
